f you thought there weren’t any major elections until the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 3, guess again. On Saturday, Louisiana will choose between incumbent Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards and Republican businessman Eddie Rispone for governor. And the race down in the Bayou looks increasingly close, so it’s an open question whether Edwards can once again overcome Louisiana’s deep red hue to win reelection. Here’s where things stand heading into Election Day.

I am amazed out how close Trump makes these races where the Republicans put up mediocre candidates.

The sting in losing Governor races is they replace Senators if something happens.

I agree. I think you can learn a lot from elections like this one and the Kentucky governors race. And there is A LOT to learn from both of these elections for Republicans.

Map Percent Candidate Party Votes Winner
50.3% Eddie Rispone GOP 645,372
49.7% John BelEdwards Dem 637,476
81.3% of precincts reporting (3,200/3,934) *Incumbent
1,282,848 total votes

But New Orleans is only 48% counted. It’s easy 60K more votes for Edwards

They are waiting until the last minute to send in the Orleans parish votes. That will put Edwards over the top.

Ultimately, it won’t even be nearly as close in the LA race as it was in KY.

What’s going on??
Edwards didn’t get 50% which led to this runoff. The state is heavy red. Trump has put a large focus on this race.

This daily impeachment bullshit is drowning out everything else. The Dems were already mobilized but it’s freaking some Republicans out too.

This sucks..Trump is doing a great job as President and the country is in great shape but it doesn’t seem to matter.

If by “vote” you mean, “cheat”, then yes.

Edwards is only doing .1% above what he needs, so far.
