Controversy continues to roil this weeks upcoming Democratic presidential primary debate in Los Angeles amid an ongoing labor dispute, anger over the tightening qualification standards and discontent with Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez.
The debate, which was originally slated to be held at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), was moved to Loyola Marymount University after AFSCME Local 3299 the union representing more than 25,000 University of California service and patient technical care workers and the state school forced UCLA to inform the Democrats and its media partners to abandon plans to host the debate at the Luskin School of Public Affairs.
But another labor dispute at Loyola Marymount University is now once again threatening the December 19 debate and the top Democratic primary candidates are threatening to boycott the event if they have to cross a picket line to get to the stage.
A labor union called UNITE HERE Local 11 says it will picket outside the event, and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders responded by tweeting they wouldnt participate if that meant crossing it. Former Vice President Joe Biden, Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind.; Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, environmental activist Tom Steyer and businessman Andrew Yang followed suit.

First time I’ve seen the MSM mention Pocahontas in a week or so.
Just as well. Audience participation at rat debates has been dismal at best.
“artificially narrowed”
I actually like that.
Before Trump got elected, I used to preach that elections are rigged by the parties, not in the elections themselves, but in who they get nominated. Everyone who makes it into the general election owes it to the party bosses and on those strings they are doomed to dance.
Then Trump happened.
Well, maybe the parties don’t have complete control over the nomination process.
I am sympathetic, to a small degree, about the rules they set for debates though. I think it’s just another tooth in the gears that they use to ‘influence’ who gets nominated.
On the other hand, if you have been in 2 or 3 debates already, and you’re falling off the margins, then it’s your fault, as a candidate. You need to pull that card out of your sleeve before it’s too late.
If they do cancel the debate, would anyone really notice?
Well....there goes my Wed. night drinking game........
If the debate is cancelled DOZENS of viewers will have to find something else to do.
How many people were really excited to see yet another debate just a few days before Christmas?
Demonomic senators are not allowed to campaign during impeachment. That would be funny
Artificially narrowed? Didn’t the field get narrowed down by a combination of :. Support as measured in public opinion polls, and support as measured in contributions received?
All the candidates on the stage need to have shown they have some minimal level.of support based on the criteria all knew about well in advance. What exactly is the complaint?
The Democrats themselves set up these criteria for determining who the strongest candidates are.
If you believe the rules apply to you, you are not a Democrat!
Everyone of them began campaigning WAAAAAAY to soon
Who cares? Ratings for the Democrat presidential debates have been dismal.
‘artificially narrowed’
Would they prefer that it be narrowed by natural causes? That might take a while, and it would put the septuagenarian candidates at a disadvantage.
Jeb Bush could run as a Democrat.
He is for sure stupid enough to jump in.
Still waiting to see who the Democrat affirmative action candidates will be
Back to the good old days of strong Union dictatorship, right Dims?
You loved it when we were governed by thugs. Now the teacher’s unions are trying to rule us by didtatorship.
Won’t happen,
aaahhh..... solidarity. The academic servicers union picket line can not be crossed.
“as candidates express frustration over ‘artificially narrowed’ field”
well, that’s easy enough to fix: all of the privileged white folk could simply dropout voluntarily, thereby making room for new “diverse” candidates that have even less chance of being nominated than they do ... really, it’s the least the white Dem candidates can do to apologize and compensate for the unfairness of their fair skin color ... i propose that bernie and biden be the first to go ...
“Well....there goes my Wed. night drinking game”
your live and brain cells thank you ...
