U.S. Senator Susan Collins said on Monday the case for calling witnesses in President Donald Trumps Senate impeachment trial had been strengthened by a New York Times report on a book manuscript by former Trump adviser John Bolton.
The reports about John Boltons book strengthen the case for witnesses and have prompted a number of conversations among my colleagues, Collins said in a statement she posted to Twitter.

Yes, she deserves to lose.
And if they go first and they are voted down????? I really think since the House failed to do this, the Senate should not be doing it.
These cowards scurry away to seek cover and then make a run for it while others have to bravely fight on to protect everyone. Any gossipy news story gives them an out.
Those three will come back in the open again to vote for honoring veterans or the American flag. Maybe. Not sure of those these days.
That report was thrown out there strictly for the benefit of those four wobbly Republican senators. The democrats know how to play them like cheap fiddles.
I was cautiously optimistic Bolton would put country first - looks like I was wrong.
Of course she does.
NOTHING is every a given.
I’m glad you don’t get upset. No point.
But unless one is God, one can’t say with 100 percent Certainty that there couldn’t be 67 votes after all of the witness testimony.
This is a good play by bolton and the times, no matter how disgusting they are.
Kudos.
And Lindsey will get on his high horse and lecture the Dems, all while not pressuring his GOP senators to get in line.

No its not funny
Our Constitution and just plain common sense intends that the House is the finder of facts regarding impeachment.
...........
The House judges those facts and forwards those facts, true or not, as Articles of Impeachment to the Senate.
.................
It is not the Senate’s job to then find more facts. The Senate either rejects or approves those House facts.
..............
The House may then either find more facts or not, it is not the Senate’s job to do so.
...............
The corrupting behavior here is the Senate thinking about choosing to do the House’s job. Doing so is clearly unconstitutional.
............
Previous impeachment deliberations in the Senate that did so were wrong.
She's talking out of her hat. The picture will look different after the president completes his presentation, and after the 16 hour Q&A.
More witnesses means days more sitting on their rumps listening to Schiff and Nadler.
Useful idiot, thy name is Susan Collins.
This time the Lion King Will Prevail!!
You do realize that you are condemning Bolton based on an anonymously sourced article in the New York Slimes?
It's a made up story, but that doesn't stop you from being OUTRAGED at Bolton.
Ok, but if there’s witnesses then there have to be Bidens.
The accusation is Trump targeted Bidens to illegally affect the election.
The defense is the Bidens were engaged in corruption and it was Trump’s job to look at that.
If we go with the prosecution witnesses, we have to go with the defense witnesses.
How can it be otherwise?
You would think right?
Okay. They got Mittens. They got Lazy Susan. Who’s left? Oh. Right. Lisa Murkowski. And, of course, Yertle the Turtle.
Dear Little Brain Lisa,
You could use support from some independents in Maine. Good luck, however, winning without ANY support from Republicans in Maine.
See ya!!
