Thanks to Second Amendment supporters around the Commonwealth ceaselessly voicing their opposition to a sweeping gun ban, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 10-5 to reject House Bill 961 on February 17th. Bloombergs House majority in the General Assembly is not going to deliver their most coveted agenda item to their billionaire master.
House Bill 961 was a comprehensive ban on many commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms, suppressors, and standard capacity magazines. The original bill sought to impose a licensing and registration scheme for citizens who wish to keep affected firearms they lawfully owned prior to the ban, with felony penalties for noncompliance. It also broadly banned any part that could be used to change a firearm into a banned configuration. While the House Public Safety Committee amended the bill to allow citizens to keep currently owned firearms and suppressors, there was no option for citizens to keep their lawfully acquired magazines with capacities greater than twelve rounds, forcing millions of Virginians to dispose of their property, become a criminal, or surrender them to the government.
Numerous other anti-gun bills are still in play this session. Please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates on these bills and other issues threatening our Second Amendment rights in Virginia.

Correct, the VCDL was the instrumental organization that defeated this gun grab.
Organizers Definitely
Deserve credit!
I’d bet they were
Sweating Bullets,
Literally!
They still need voted out!
I agree.
“This is just a minor set-back.”
But perhaps it is a signal that even the ‘Rat Senators in VA know that Northam & Co. are taking things too far, and even THEY reject that (or, more likely, they are worried about re-election, and are acting out of the sole motive of self-preservation). But Northam’s aura of invincibility is GONE, kind of like the Wehrmacht’s aura of invincibility was stabbed in the heart at Moscow in 1941, and completely killed and buried at Stalingrad the next year. Maintain hope, as many Virginians have risen to oppose these people - they have been awakened to the reality of what the Leftists like Northam and Bloomberg want to do because, as usual, the arrogant Left bit off more than it could chew.
Sadly, my experience has been that the horrid laws are almost never repealed when the R’s retake the legislature.
There is almost always some excuse for their failure, usually blamed on the D’s blocking them in some manner, or “Well, it’s a settled law now, repeal would be confusing and disruptive”.
I would agree. My father's side of the family is from Russia, and many were caught in the USSR and effectively imprisoned there for 75 years. My grandfather's father was murdered by them in 1937. I know that there is, indeed, only one sure and effective way to deal with ALL on the Left:
Hope the FASCISTS in Colorado’s gov’t are paying attention.
Yep. There’s an Eeyore in every crowd.
Chin up. There are millions of citizens keeping pressure on Congress that will not be worn down - just as has been done here.
ROFL!!
lol
I HATE typing lol unless I really am.
I really am.
And I was in a grumpy mood.
Thanks :)
“They only tabled the bill for the year.”
tabling is generally the same thing as killing ... though of course ANY bill can be re-introduced in a new session ...
I hope VA is truly WOKE now to the evil of the Left.
From what I see happening someone will get to them before we do.
p
Bloomberg’s campaign in Virginia has met a wall of patriots, including Dems.
The liberal fascist autocrats have taken a huge broadside!
And the President weighed in very successfully.
The point is that many Virginians both DEM and GOP outside of Northern Virginia are really upset with the laws that the current legislature is pushing through. Some don’t like the gun law, some don’t like the LGBTQ law, some don’t like the ERA amendment, and some don’t like the national popular vote law. Many don’t like any of them. These areas are likely to vote heavily in favor of the GOP in the next election.
Happy to help :)
