Thanks to Second Amendment supporters around the Commonwealth ceaselessly voicing their opposition to a sweeping gun ban, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 10-5 to reject House Bill 961 on February 17th. Bloomberg’s House majority in the General Assembly is not going to deliver their most coveted agenda item to their billionaire master.
House Bill 961 was a comprehensive ban on many commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms, suppressors, and standard capacity magazines. The original bill sought to impose a licensing and registration scheme for citizens who wish to keep affected firearms they lawfully owned prior to the ban, with felony penalties for noncompliance. It also broadly banned any part that could be used to change a firearm into a banned configuration. While the House Public Safety Committee amended the bill to allow citizens to keep currently owned firearms and suppressors, there was no option for citizens to keep their lawfully acquired magazines with capacities greater than twelve rounds, forcing millions of Virginians to dispose of their property, become a criminal, or surrender them to the government.

The more Republicans and their Republican support staff we can send to Washington, the bigger the shift in Northern Virginia politics to the Right. Congressmen and their support staff, like living in Northern Virginia more than DC or Maryland.

Surprised, pleasantly. My guess, they don’t want to run a national election with Trump having this talking point so they’ll wait a year.
I think the saner donks realized that enforcing this law might have been a bit of a...challenge.

The local ‘rag’ had editorials in favor of the ban, but in the last couple of days, there was an editorial saying the ban wouldn’t stop the shootings, etc. so it seemed some ‘winds of change’ might be blowing.
A close relative & at least 10 of his friends rented a van & went to the rally, said it was awesome. Most of the pictures don’t do the crowd justice. I think some legislators got VERY nervous, plus some of the provisions of the ban were ridiculous and not enforceable on a large scale, despite threats to call out the National Guard, have an elite team to confiscate guns, etc. etc.
The ‘Rats will double down & try again ... vigilance & staying VERY active, including voting the ‘Rat B’s out of office when the opportunity presents itself are necessities. Blackface Ralphie thinks he’s home free & he’s out for revenge; however, the Baby Killer’s comeuppance (politically) is still before him.
Justin Fairfax, the Lt. Gov. (& the only reason Blackface is still Gov, IMO - Fairfax was an unacceptable replacement if Blackface forced to step down) was talking about running for Gov ... a top Dem donor pulled out of an event because Fairfax had a speaking slot .... writing’s on the wall for Fairfax, IMO.

The gun ban bill was racist.
It forbade illegal aliens from owning guns.
How could these racist democrats ban illegal aliens from having guns while allowing them to vote, to get free medical care, to get in-state tuition, to get free schooling?
Many illegal aliens, like MS13 members need those guns to earn a living. Democrats are heartless and racist.

Exactly correct. History has shown that what Democrat Communists cannot accomplish via the ballot box or legislation they use the corrupt Courts for.

Gun Grabbers always shoot for the moon on the first attempt, then "compromise" by settling on only taking half of what they originally wanted.
The NFA of 1934, the GCA of 1968, and the FOPA of 1986. We already have "common sense" gun control laws. NO MORE GUN CONTROL LAWS. NONE. We've already compromised away too many rights.
Can the whole body take up legislation that has failed in a committee?
