As I said, stay away from hard news stories and you probably won;t get so upset about hearing unpleasant news. Maybe have family or friends watch the news/read the papers and let you know what they feel you might be able to handle. Good luck.
Another update on Washington State: According to the Washington State Department of Health, thus far this flu season, 74 deaths from influenza - 6 children and 68 adults.
Tornados happen in the lower Midwest, lived there, done that.
This virus is unknown to human immunology, travels thru aerosol like measles, and in some nations requires 20% of all infected to be in an ICU. If the US sees 10,000 ICU visits that require ventilation, you can bet on lots of deaths.
Our political enemies want that, to bring communism to the US. Why help them?
Please learn the available scientific (instead of rumors) data about this crap. It’s bad. Then teach others to stop the news driven panic that we will see.

Seasonal flu has a mortality rate far below this.
Wake the hell up, or avoid a keyboard. Try to teach scientific fact instead of your “feelings”. You’re like a Reddit liberal, but at the other end of the spectrum.
Real scientific data is now readily available about this virus. We need to spread information- not fear, and not denial.
I don’t think we will see high numbers of death if we teach people to avoid cross infection. But if we deny that this can happen to us, we will see R0 figures like Iran.
How many people where infected last season by Covid-19? When you have that number, get back to us. Otherwise, you have nothing to add.
I understand the emotional need to try to deny the reality of this thing, but all the whistling past the graveyard won’t change the current news.

I don’t think that’s ever been the usual practice when it comes to outbreaks. If it’s something like a plane crash, you get a list of victims, but not so often with disease outbreaks.

We visit a similar place with our therapy dogs.
I’d say 25% of their population looks like they could be dead in a week, add in a severe flu/CV outbreak and totally understandable stats.
CDC and their control freak minds really blew this. They were refusing to test people because they didn’t meet their definition of licking the boots of somebody that returned from Wuhan. Their crappy tests would have failed anyway.
So what happened? Well, a ton of health care workers are now going to fall ill, possibly die, COVID-19 is on the loose in Seattle and can’t be reigned in now.
Everyone knew what was happening, there were sick people with this running around, hell people from Italy are flying in daily with COVID-19. Thanks CDC. All that talk about the next 1918 and you guys blew it.
Course, when this is over, you(and others) won’t be anywhere to be found.
