Austrias Europe minister has said that the EUs compulsory migrant redistribution scheme has failed and member-states should be able to choose whether to accept migrants or not.
While some 150 non-governmental organisations have put pressure on Austria to accept Middle Eastern migrants stuck in Greece because of the worsening coronavirus pandemic, two government spokesmen have said that Austria will maintain its current policy and not accept any more asylum seekers.
It remains a no, confirmed Claudia Türtscher, the spokeswoman for Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg, of Chancellor Sebastian Kurzs Austrian Peoples Party (ÖVP), according to Kronen Zeitung.
Ms Türtscher referred the media back to Chancellor Kurzs remarks from last month when he warned against the European Union transferring any migrants from Greece and attempting to redistribute them across the political bloc.
If the European Union allows these people to enter, millions will be on their way, the 33-year-old Austrian premier said last month, insisting that the best course of action for his country is to support Greece as best as possible and to send a clear message as an EU.
If we take in the people who Erdoğan sends to the border, it wont stay at 13,000. Then millions of people will set off, he explained.
When Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan opened the gates to Europe, allowing thousands of migrants to push their way into Greece, in late February, Austria called the move an attack on the European Union and asserted that it would not accept a single illegal alien.
Instead, Austria sent special police forces to Greece to help local authorities maintain the border and repel illegals.
The Austrian people back Chancellor Kurzs stance, with a poll from March revealing a clear majority (61 per cent) reject taking migrants as part of an EU redistribution strategy.

IMO, it's already to late.
When the hundreds of millions from the collapsing African countries arrive, nothing will be able to stop them. Europeans (and refugees) everywhere will be massacred in the streets.(Islam will exacerbate things)
The best chance for an African to survive and avoid starvation is to go to Europe. Millions will die in this overall process.
Unfortunately, this can't be fixed...it must play out.
A glimmer of sanity, I hope.

Far better than redistributing them within Europe would be sending them back and not letting new ones in...which the Greeks are doing.
The ferryboat services offered by various Soros backed NGO’s need to be shut down immediately. Seize the vessels, force them to discharge their cargo back in North Africa from where they originated then sink the ships in the middle of the Med.
Africa may or may not become a giant Covid-19 CF. Some countries are reacting much Samer than the US.
Fifteen years ago people were saying it was too late to stop Mexican from flooding our borders. They were wrong. You keep saying 'no' and backing it up. There's no solid reason for Europe to die because middle eastern countries want to dump their disgruntled.
“While some 150 non-governmental organisations have put pressure on Austria to accept Middle Eastern migrants “
NGOs should be outlawed! They are the termites of a country.
They cooked their goose...and it don’t taste good!!
1. Collapsing African countries — do note that with the exception of Eritrea, a lot of African countries are in a better position in 2020 compared to how they were in 2010.
2. “nothing will be able to stop them” — well the stopping is happening - Italy is paying Libya to basically lock these up..
3. The best chance to survive — not really. In Europe there are little to no jobs for the unskilled.
This reinforces the decision of the Hungarian and Polish governments to reject the invaders.
We also have huge unemployment in European countries as well. So there are no low-level jobs for them — not that there ever were
