N.J. projects peak of 86K to 509K coronavirus cases. Strict social distancing needed for best case, Murphy says.

Gov. Phil Murphy insisted Monday New Jersey residents need to continue to strictly adhere to his orders to stay home and practice social distancing to fight the coronavirus outbreak, but said officials are beginning to see some encouraging news as he offered projection charts for the peak in coronavirus cases for the first time.

“What you’re doing is making a difference. We have enough data now to say that comfortably,” Murphy said, while cautioning that any wavering in that effort could produce disastrous results.

“We’ll be overwhelmed, like a tsunami,” Murphy said, referencing a worst case scenario.

State officials are beginning to see signs the so-called curve in the state is beginning to level out and the peak in cases could happen between late April and early May, Murphy said.

“(There’s been) a decline in the growth rate of new cases from 24% day over day on March 30th to roughly 12% day-over-day today,” Murphy said a daily briefing in Trenton.

He made the announcement as New Jersey’s deaths from the coronavirus increased to 1,003 as health officials announced the total COVID-19 positive tests jumped to at least 41,090.

The latest coronavirus numbers revealed on the state Department of Health’s website show 3,663 new coronavirus cases in the state and another 86 deaths.

This is embarrassing and the type of nonsense we are subjected to in this rathole state. Murphy gives a range of variance of 420,000 cases and we are supposed to take this seriously? This is beyond obvious now that certain Democratic governors are just out to tank the economy to get Trump. It’s no risk for Murphy. We could have 50% unemployment in NJ and he would still win re-election.

When 85k is too low and 510k is absurd. Behold the professionals at work.

Someone saying something will be between 86K and 509K is lying. Such a distance actually means they really don’t know what the number will be, and their “models” are not and cannot tell them.

OK enough of that nonsense and acting like b.tches from horrifying blue states.

you know what, if the red states that are doing the shut downs now had done it a month ago, they wouldn’t have to start now and be ####ed a month later than the mid atlantic states.

I HATE cuomo and I HATE deblasio and so many others in NY govts but I’m not putting down a city that I GREW UP IN and LOVED going to school, working and going out in to make rednecks and farmers like me more.

BTW, look at the top 10 states that GET more than they GIVE to the fed govt.

You might be surprised by the colors.

Ciao

I predict anywhere between 364,000 and 1 trillion in the U.S.

What do I win?

God raises up leaders and HE will take them down in HIS timing.

Murphey serves at the pleasure of God, not just by vote.

Pray for God’s will, for Murphy to have his own Damascus Road experience, all sorts of ways this (NJ leadership) can turn better than you seem to think it can.

If he had said anywhere between 85 and 100,000 as an example that might be considered a workable range but to basically say between 85,000 and over a half 1 million tells me they have no confidence in anything they’re saying and they are literally just making stuff up as they go along

Between 86K and 509K ... wouldn’t it be more honest to just say that they don’t know? Somewhere between zero and infinity ...

They may have put numbers in for the likelihood of infection with such-and-such sort of social distancing with such-and-such level of compliance. But I have yet to see a model described where “such-and-such” is clearly defined, let alone what those numbers are and how they arrived at them. It’s all black magic, don’t ask, they’re the experts.

I also don’t know how “social distancing” morphed into “shut down any business that the Governor thinks is non-essential”. Where is even a computer model, good or bad, that addresses that?

Are you sure about that?

The last time a Democrat NJ Governor was re-elected was in 1977.

Kean
Whitman
Christie

All republican governors who were re-elected since 1981

Florio
McGreevy
Corzine

All Democrat Governors since 1989, all lost re-election.

Governor Brandon Byrne (D) won re-election in 1977, the last Democrat governor to be re-elected.

“This is beyond obvious now that certain Democratic governors are just out to tank the economy to get Trump and us.”

Trump needs to brush off the 1867-68 Reconstruction Act and declare Gov. Murphy in insurrection. Then appoint a military governor and necessary troops to tamp out the threat to America created by Murphy.

The real question is not the number of cases, but the number of hospitalizations and deaths. This focus on the number of cases is driving the hysteria.

There was no model. They just kept babbling terms no one fully understood the meaning of, thinking since “experts” used those terms, there MUST be some good PLAN behind them.
