A California teen girl died by suicide — likely while grappling with the stress caused by coronavirus lockdowns, according to reports.

Jo’Vianni “Jo” Smith, 15, was found dead at her Stockton home, where she hanged herself amid the state’s stay-at-home orders, news station KTXL reported.

Trump spoke about this becoming a very real concern. Sad.

“Trump’s fault!” /sarc

This teen was probably teetering on the brink of suicide anyway. Either she was a member of the alphabet gang, or she had rabid leftist parents.

Chalk her up as another COVID death.
Sad for her friends and family.

This is one of the problems with suicide; you never really know the reasons for what happened. Even when people leave notes, it’s nearly impossible to know if what they are saying is accurate. Always second guessing ... wondering.

Now, if they shut off the internet during a lockdown, this would be epidemic.

Horrible.

The media is really winding people up for weeks. I told my neighbor to shut the damned TV off. I thought he was going to vapor-lock on his front porch freaking out about what he’s been watching.

There's a good chance that the kid was “struggling” even before the lockdown. Very sad however.

Lots of people are teetering in the brink of suicide.

Social isolation makes it worse. One of the reasons we shouldn’t have it.

I believe deaths of despair will exceed those of covid but I’ll never be able to prove it.

I remember back in Jan/Feb seeing a young Chinese man leap out of his apartment high rise. I don’t understand it, but the anxiety that plays with a young person’s mind can reach a storm.

Sad.

I doubt I have watched five minutes of “news” since this started. I have no idea where the stock market stands.

I expect the “news” people have everyone worked into a frenzy.

The only advice that makes sense right now. I never watch but my wife came home from work the other evening and turned on ABC. The anchor was a real drama queen and I told her to shut it off. It was all lies anyway.

She lives with her single mom who runs a catering business. They had to be facing tough times. This girl probably felt like she had the weight of the world on her shoulders.

This has got to be especially hard for teens. My heart breaks for her mother.

Suicide is a presumed way through for those that cannot see time healing their wounds in such a short time ahead, that’s the tragedy...in almost no time at all there ‘horror’ will pass and they will see life moved forward. Teens especially have no sense of time in this real world.

I will pray a rosary for her meeting with Jesus, giver of Divine Mercy. Thanks for posting so we might pray.

Agreed, but it’s not just teens suffering from social isolationism that are at risk. There is also the concern of adults who face financial ruin because they cannot earn an income and support themselves or their families.

To wit, they have set the bar too low for financial relief and the amount they are providing will not cover most people’s cost of living. When you think about it, at least 1/3 of the US population have only enough savings for one week without a paycheck. Unemployment is meager and will not cover those costs.

We are approximately 1 month into the lockdown. Wait and see what happens by the end of April and that will give us a better idea as to the impact of this farce.

A California teen girl died by suicide is not exactly news these days. They are tons of them who are “suicide ideation”. It’s like the latest thing in Gen-Z mental illness. All the cool kids have it.

I tried to kill myself when I was 16. I am alive today because I am stupid.
