You do realize that HIV is a retrovirus? The virus is in the immune system itself. Vaccines train the immune system to fight viruses -- that's a lot harder to do when the virus is in the immune system itself. Oh, and no one else has developed a vaccine against HIV either -- that should tell you something. You might want to think about that!

Problem for me is Where was Farci during H1N1 and Obama? Why wasn’t he worried about all those deaths? Why wasn’t he on CNN advising shelter in place then? Why didn’t we have to do social distancing then? I find him a fake.

You said that better than me. If Fauci were slicker & more ‘politically astute’, I would have little confidence in him. I like that he takes questions at face value, and tries to answer them as if he were talking to half-way intelligent and honest people (we’re listening, so he’s at least partly correct). That makes him hopelessly naive — but, credible.

Did you see Fauci a day or two ago towards the end when the press tried to corner him by asking him if he would speak up if he disagreed with Trump about opening the country?
He got a deer in the headlights look on his face and spent several long moments processing the question before stumbling out an answer.
He saw the trap, but he could barely avoid falling in. He’s too analytical to think quickly on his feet with obvious enemies.
I think it scared the hell out of him.
