'Experiment in human sacrifice' fails to materialize as GOP governor reopens Georgia
The Washington Times ^ | Wednesday, May 13, 2020 | James Varney

When Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp reopened his state for business last month, he was derided as a coronavirus-denier and a veritable murderer.

Amid broad concern among public health officials that it was too soon and risked a resurgence of COVID-19 cases and deaths, the Atlantic branded the move “Georgia’s experiment in human sacrifice.”

So far at least, that hasn’t happened.

While no one can pinpoint why and some think the verdict still under deliberation, the confident predictions that Mr. Kemp, a Republican, had unleashed a calamity on the Peach State appear to be wrong.

The novel coronavirus that originated last year in Wuhan, China, is blamed for a total of more than 1,500 deaths and more than 6,250 hospitalizations in Georgia since the outbreak began.

But since May 1, the daily count of confirmed cases and deaths have dropped markedly.

As of Wednesday, the seven-day moving average of new cases was 242, down from 773 on April 29. The seven-day moving average of deaths was 12, down sharply from 34 on April 29, according to the state health department.

Thank goodness at the statistics are showing it was OK to open up the state of Georgia. Six months from now and six years from now people will be talking about the fact that it was less than 1/2 of 1% that got the virus and even a smaller grouping that died from it.

Maybe getting out into the sunshine and fresh air is good for you?

Just an idea.

"experiment in human sacrifice."

LOL...give me a break.

This prompted me to check in with the Santa Clara County (CA) Dashboard since I haven't looked at it in two or three weeks. The good news is that it has almost stopped spreading here.

The bad news is only Males and Females are catching it. How can this epicenter of Wokeness have only Males and Females? This data can't be right.

The only way I have found to deal with this entire bizzaro situation is to spend as much time out in the sun as I can.

It makes me feel good, makes me feel free, makes me feel like I’m steeling myself in case I ever encounter El Chupacabra, or whatever they are calling that beastie these days.

If I die anytime soon, then it’s gonna be in the sun doing something free.

To Hell with this tyranny.

Positivity rate’s down in testing.

Can you imagine how wonderful it would be if half the country didn’t want America to slowly die.

I’m not sure positivity rates are down. As more people are tested (not the same everywhere), more people appear to test positive or show antibodies. As far as symptoms are not present and hospitalizations and deaths are dropping is where I think the key is. We flattened the curve “now lets get on with the the bidness”.

So NY Governor Cujo sending the infected into the elder care facilities wasn’t the murder of The Greatest Generation?

Most of those that served were already gone. Coumo The Dickhead is killing their younger siblings and their grandchildren. I think.

If the data holds true for another week or 10 days, the governor is a hero.

If not, he’s the goat.

Kemp has done well.

As to be expected, nursing homes and assisted living facilites and the like are still on lockdown.

Pushed from May 13th to June 12th. Only employees have been allowed in. No families.

The place where I occasionally help out has had ZERO cases.

They can’t even go to the dining room. Each resident has a table outside of the door. After the meal, the table is folded up and placed against the wall.

This, however, is better than eating in the room. This way they at least get to see and wave and talk(from a distance) to their neighbors.

“Georgia’s experiment in human sacrifice.”

What an asisnine turn of phrase. The Atlantic’s readers must be dunces.

I don’t live in GA, I live be bumfu@k USA. We didn’t get wide spread testing (still don’t) and our numbers are still fluctuating, but hospitalizations and mortalities are going down. Have a nice day.
