Trump Administration Waives Environmental Safeguards to Fast-Track 69 Miles of Border Fence Construction (Laredo)
Government Executive ^ | 18 May 2020 | JULIƁN AGUILAR

The Trump administration announced Friday that it is waiving several regulations in order to fast-track construction of nearly 70 miles of border barriers and roads in Webb and Zapata counties (Texas, around Laredo)...

The move marks a significant step in fulfilling Trump's election-year goal to have hundreds of miles of fencing or wall in place by the end of the year. The waiver allows the Department of Homeland Security to circumvent regulations mandated in the National Environmental Policy Act, the Federal Water Pollution Control Act and the National Historic Preservation Act, among others, according to text of the notice posted in the federal register Friday (15 May).

The White House said in February its goal was to build 450 additional miles of barrier by the end of 2020. The 69 miles would be in addition to a 52-mile project also underway in Webb County

The project around Laredo seems to be moving quickly.

Federal officials just got tough with the City of Laredo (whose officials are being obstructionist, to posture politically) last week. Laredo wanted a fancy down town river front development as part of their Federal project, but they are now at risk of scuttling it due to their trouble-making, and getting some plain prison bars, covered with concertina.

The project is moving ahead, with or without them.

LOL, The uploader knows that even with 14,000 subscribers he is currently monetized but not for long. He’s prepared for it.

Environmental regulations are not intended to protect the environment. Doubtless, there are many individuals involved who have the environment as their concern. However, the regulations are intended as a means of slowing or stopping American economic development. Thus, we have federal departments giving money grants to non-governmental organizations to sue the giving agency into enforcing regulations. We gave up the ability to reprocess radioactive elements into power rods because of a smelt. We have to abandon productive farmland because of more smelt, or some “rare” lizard.

Good! Waive the entire EPA if our goal is to returning manufacturing to the USA. Let each State decide what is best for their citizens. California can increase the burden and starve, their choice.

“CBP just announced 187 Miles now completed.”

Thanks for the reminder, I just went and posted it.

“Things can only get better from here.”

Fisher just got a more than a billion dollar award to build another long run in Arizona, on 6 May. They have long said they could build faster than their competitors. Hopefully, they will help step up the rate for us.

This Summer, this year’s new mountain of money will start getting lots of new crews breaking ground, and the rate of construction should take off significantly.

Nixon’s War on Natural Resource Harvesters continue apace, insuring that no natural resources are used for any purpose for any reason at any time anywhere in the US.

Meanwhile the grifters like American Rivers and The Nature Conservancy continue to profit off closures and foreclosures buying and selling the very property they forced closed/abandoned to their members who often use the property in the exact same manner as the original owners.
