Backlash against the French film “Cuties” continues to escalate, with objectors now demanding Netflix be canceled in response to the movie’s perceived sexualization of children.
“Unbelievable that they released ‘Cuties’. So child porn is ok now Netflix? Raise your hand if you agree this is disgusting,” wrote one Twitter user, using the hashtag #CancelNetflix.
The Twitter campaign against the streaming giant follows its release in August of a heavily criticized trailer and poster for the flick. The online outrage continues despite Netflix releasing a statement saying “we’re deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used” to promote the film.
“Netflix is comfortable with this. Plenty of people will defend it. This is where our culture is at,” tweeted one critic Wednesday alongside a clip from the film.
Many are accusing Netflix of angling promotional materials to be about the cast’s sexuality more than the movie’s actual plot.
“Eleven-year-old Amy starts to rebel against her conservative family’s traditions when she becomes fascinated with a free-spirited dance crew,” reads the film’s current Netflix description.
The original summary, however, was reportedly much more salacious, reading, “Amy, 11, becomes fascinated with a twerking dance crew. Hoping to join them, she starts to explore her femininity, defying her family’s traditions.”
As of this writing, over 598,000 people have signed a Change.org petition titled “Cancel Netflix subscription,” accusing the film of exploiting children, showing underage girls “dressed provocatively, dancing sexually” and being rated “only for adult viewers.”
The movie, which also goes by “Mignonnes,” was written and directed by Maïmouna Doucouré, who, like main character Amy, is French, with parents born in Senegal. Doucouré was inspired to create the film after attending an amateur talent show in Paris.

We cancelled our Netflix this morning. Having Zero and his wife, the former royals, and now this evil horse crap; I won’t give them a cent any more.

Canceled. It was already hard to browse with kids present. It’s impossible to flip through without sexually explicit or a terrible horror movie cover. Kids see it and comment all of the time. No more.
We canceled them for the gay Jesus flick.

Actually I only recently signed up to watch The Crown after previously cancelling due to Michelle Wolfe and her disgusting comments regarding abortion.
I guess the Obamas and their new would be best friends, the Sussexes, don’t mind dirty money.

Why does the FCC allow this to air? How low do we go?
First reason: Susan Rice on their Board
Second reason: The Obama's now producing Netflix content
Third reason: The Royals now on the payroll for who knows what
FCC has no control over streaming or cable, broadcast over the air only.

I cancelled today in large part because of this. In the comments about why I’m cancelling I said “Child porn: Cuties. Pushing far left agenda...bye.
Lol. Really? The FCC has control of three channels. ABC, NBC and CBS. Everything else is free reign. Why do you think FX has nudity? Why some channels have every curse word. Even FCC has lightened up on some curse words on the networks.
DOJ has control/jurisdiction over the production and distribution of child porn.
I expect we’ll see something from them soon.
I checked out the clip; no exaggeration; this is a stripper’s dance routine by pubescent little girls. It’s gross, and as wrong as it can be. I don’t have Netflix, but I’m going to their website now to let them know I will never have Netflix. This is abhorrent, and we have to stand up against it, or cease to be a civilization in any meaningful way.
I beg to differ. I just watched the short version, in other words I fast forwarded through the movie. Stopping along the way to listen to the script. It is quite apparent what the movie was trying to depict. How our kids are caught up in the (hip) movement, how this child was berated and bullied, joined in to try and belong but in the end realized it was wrong and against her upbringing. And this was no where near child porn. End of rant.
