Eric Schmidt presided over Novell (a network software company) where it was actually far superior to Microsoft, and made such huge blunders that it quickly went out of business.
To this day, Microsoft’s Active Directory STILL cannot do certain things that Novell Directory Services was able to do back in the 1980s, as far as network management goes.
At the time, I was under the belief that Schmidt was on Microsoft’s payroll.
