I did notice (as you stated) that PayPal did not appear among the payment choices. I'm pretty sure that is unintentional, so good on you for letting John know about that.

I thought I saw a post advising that checks might be well received instead of card payments in these volatile times.

Starting in Oct, 2003, I donated monthly to FR by credit card. In Jan, 2007 I switched to checks. Never had a problem.

I have long been an advocate that anyone can join Free Republic and reply to threads freely.

But to post a thread? You must be a bona fide dues paying member.

I’ve submitted that idea to JR a number of times over the years. He’s never implemented it of course, so in my opinion the three month FReepathons are the preferred method of fundraising.
