If the NC GOP can’t come up with someone with more than just someone else’s last name, they deserve to lose.

Move to NC and run yourself.....Problem solved.

Lara does not impress me. Why won’t her husband run?

She wouldn’t need the GOPe apparatus. Go third party and watch the Repukes come in 4th. N.C may not be the right state but I say where ever MAGA can’t win a primary they should rum third party. Play for keeps

“IMO Burr is leaving because he made millions on Insider Trading and was caught. Nothing happened to him as far as I know. Good riddance.”

Burr made the announcement he would retire in 2022 in 2016, while he was running for reelection. There has been no indication he had any plan to reverse direction and run.

Early in 2020 the press reported the DOJ was investigating Burr and GOP Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler for insider trading. Both publicly denied the charge. After a few weeks Loeffler provided details of the trading which appeared to exonerate her. Burr provided nothing and stepped down as Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. He effectively disappeared from public view. He has not posted to his “Senator Richard Burr” Facebook page since April 20, 2020. Not the behavior one expects of someone who is 100% innocent of the charge.

On January 19, 2021 the DOJ announced it was dropping its investigation of Burr for insider trading. On January 20, 2021 Joe Biden took the oath of office as president. On February 13, 2021 Burr was one of seven GOP Senators to vote for the conviction of President Trump. In doing so he was clearly voting against the wishes of the majority of North Carolina voters and overwhelming majority of NC Republican voters.

Was a deal made?

Lara Trump is an articulate, intelligent, classy speaker.
Caroline Kennedy is dumber than an ahh, ahh....post.

Lara is extremely articulate and knowledgeable. Very unlike Caroline Kennedy who could not get out a coherent thought in a cohesive sentence...like, like you know what I mean?

Burr is not running. The current Governor Cooper is. He is popular with liberals but with redistricting and the new voter ID law in effect (it has been upheld by Fed Court) Lara Trump would have a really good chance of beating him. If LT Gov Robinson runs for the Senate, I believe he beats Cooper. If it is Lara vs Cooper it will close like Tillis but I think she would win.

Agreed. NO dynasties, especially when considering someone with no experience at all other than being a wealthy member of the Trump family. Let’s look at some of the state level polititicans—Keith Kidwell of the 79th district comes to mind.

IMO Burr is leaving because he made millions on Insider Trading and was caught.

He and his buddy Danang Dick Blumenthal also escaped criminal justice after a FISA request was leaked to the media by the SSCI custodian of classified documents. The copy of the FISA document that the FBI sent to the SSCI had an incorrect date (and was the only copy with that date) so that there was clear evidence of who leaked the document. The document custodian (Wolf) was allowed to plead guilty to a minor boo-boo and the whole thing was swept under the rug.

We have a great candidate, but I want to see him elected as our Governor. We would control the legislative and executive branches in NC. We need to get some things done in this State that will only happen of he have control of both. If Lara Trump is not running then it is hard to see anyone beating Cooper unless we have another Black conservative candidate like our LT Governor.

I agree. I’m tired of these families having a permanent hold on political office just because of their name. Just because she is a Trump doesn’t mean she is conservative.

Lara Yunaska was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, on October 12, 1982, to Robert Luke Yunaska and Linda Ann Sykes.[3] She has a younger brother, Kyle Robert Yunaska.[4] She attended Emsley A. Laney High School.[5] She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from North Carolina State University[1] and also studied at the French Culinary Institute in New York.[6]

Lara served as a story coordinator and producer for the TV news magazine Inside Edition from 2012 to 2016.[6][7] Donald Trump presidential campaigns

During Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, Lara spearheaded the Trump–Pence Women's Empowerment Tour and served as the Trump Tower liaison for Brad Parscale's Giles-Parscale company.[8][9][10] After her father-in-law was elected president, she became an online producer and fundraiser for him.[6][7][11]

In April 2019, she described German chancellor Angela Merkel's decision to accept refugees during the European migrant crisis of 2015 as "the downfall of Germany; it was one of the worst things that ever happened to Germany."[12][13]

Lara was a senior consultant to Parscale for Trump's reelection campaign in 2020.[9][14] The campaign paid her $180,000 a year through Parscale's private company, Parscale Strategy. Lara Trump was a surrogate on the stump and took on broad advisory roles.[15][16] She also campaigned with the anti-Muslim far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer.[17][18]

Seems ok to me.

Oh wait, she's not a lawyer. Gotta have lawyerticians because they've done so well for us, especially the ones from Harvard. /s

...He has morphed over time into what is a pretty pathetic role of RINO...

Another sore point for me is that he was Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee during the Russian Collusion hoax. Richard Burr was asleep at the wheel during this entire farce. He did NOTHING to pursue the real criminals and left President Trump twisting in the wind.

Meanwhile Adam Schiff became the House Intel Chairman in 2018 and we sure all remember what he did. The RINO spinelessness of Richard Burr did great damage to Trump's reelection campaign.

Team Trump can certainly have Lara well prepared to fill that seat in the time allotted, between now and November 2022.

I hope so, because it's going to be absolutely vicious. They will plaster every skeleton in her closet on the airwaves and make up a few in addition.

As has been stated many, many times on many, many threads - Burr is not running for reelection. He is out in 2022.

I agree. My friends in NC are so disgusted with Burr. He must have had some pretty powerful business people supporting his campaign and there was a price he was, and is, willing to pay.
