Time for Rush Limbaugh's show to look toward the future again
American Thinker ^ | Mar. 11, 2021 | Leann Horrocks

I loved the Rush Limbaugh show. I have been listening to it for years and have always been comforted by his ever-increasing audience. It showed that conservative ideas work. The show serves a purpose — a purpose that we need fulfilled more now than ever. Unfortunately, it is not serving that purpose fully now. Rather than building on his legacy, we are wallowing in the sadness of his loss.

Excellent article. I turned the show on for about five minutes today, got sick of it and turned it off. Lots of vital stuff is going on RIGHT NOW and Rush would want the guest hosts to concentrate on it, not him.

I would be happy with the permanent installment of Mark Steyn as Rush’s replacement

I think they are doing just fine. If you stuck it out, you would have heard Rush snippets on point for what is going on.

I agree. Dennis Prager is on between 12 and 3 EST. But I think that Todd Herman and Jason Lewis would be worthy successors to the great Rush.

Amen. But I suspect that Steyn makes a better guest host.

I would start by having the "guest host" focus on Conservatives standing up for America and telling the Left:

"You WILL NOT rule this country by name calling and intimidation!"

"You WILL NOT rule by destroying the Constitution and the fabric of America!"

I’ve only listened a couple times since Rush passed. We need updates on current things. This wake has been way too long.

Out here, Dennis Prager is in the same time slot as Rush, but I don’t like him all that much. Whereas Rush was always upbeat, Dennis is all doom-and-gloom. In the mornings, I now listen to Charlie Kirk or Salty Cracker on Youtube, Newsmax TV, or if I’m in my car, I listen to Andrew Wilkow on Sirius Satellite Radio.

A little bit of Steyn goes a long way. I have some friends who won’t listen when he sits in for Rush. His voice sometimes hits a register that can (and often does) become annoying to listen to. He’s better as a guest host.

The best Rush replacement was the late Walt Williams RIP.
Mark Steyn is the best among the living.

Is this another one of those threads where conservatives beat each other up while the Demos all pull together?

I agree 100%. I started listening to Rush at the tail end of his Sacramento days in 1988, and I never stopped listening. But the Rush Limbaugh program was, at its core, a “current events” show. It was about hearing Rush’s take on the issues of the day (THAT day), as well as listening to the thoughts of guests and callers. Out of force of habit, I still turn on the show when I’m in the car, but, frankly, the show I hear now isn’t one that I think Rush would be terribly proud of. Don’t get me wrong. The owners of the show face an extremely difficult job. How do you continue a Rush Limbaugh show without Rush? I don’t know the answer to that, but on a long-term basis, you can’t run a show the way they’re running it. The audience loved Rush, but sooner rather than later most of the audience will tire of the old clips. I’ve said it before, but I think that the show should have brought on President Trump for a month long guest-hosting gig. You can bet your bottom dollar that Trump would steer the conversation back to the present, talking about everything the Dems are doing to destroy the country.

Yes. Walter Williams was my original favorite. Sorry to hear he had passed just last year I believe. ‘Black by popular demand’

Tony Snow (RIP) was the best guest host ever.

Huge void right now.

How do you continue a Rush Limbaugh show without Rush?

You can't. He was truly unique: a wonderful blend of self-effacing humor, intelligence, wit and love. He was a combination Will Rogers, George Carlin, H.L. Mencken and Fred Allen. We won't see his likes again.

Listened long b4 TV
I think they are sending out feelers to get the pulse to see where to go. Just my 2 cents.

I don’t listen these past 2 weeks because I have heard all the clps 1st hand.
I check in hear a host play Rush and move on
