“We now have an intelligentsia which, though very small, is very useful to the cause of Hell.” -C.S. Lewis, The Screwtape Letters
A masterful piece of religious prose disguised as satire, C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters is a series of messages from senior devil Screwtape to his protégé Wormwood on how best to corrupt mortals. Originally released during World War II, its tight 175 pages provide charming, timeless wisdom.
In an addendum released shortly before the author’s death in 1963 – Screwtape Proposes a Toast – Lewis pivots from dispensing universal wisdom to directly criticizing social trends of his day, trends which have gone from mere whispers on college campuses 60 years ago to become orthodoxy with the power of law today. Reading it today, it feels like the author was more prophet than professor.

Marking.
For someone who is a Buddhist, you sure like your christian authors who are steadfast in their belief that Jesus is God Himself.
” Great article that reminded me to read my old falling apart copy of the Screwtape Letters again.”
Revisiting my brand new, but not yet read copy today!
Not Buddhist....:-D

“We’re just days away from fundamentally-changing America”.
Even though I may not agree with every single belief of CS Lewis or others, I appreciate wisdom, where ever I find it.

I appreciate that about you.
Buddha was alive about 5 centuries before Jesus. He basically said “follow these principles” and don’t follow him.
He also said that after him will come a Teacher Who would be worthy of following.
Along came Jesus, claiming sinlessness and He was put to death for claiming to be equal with God.
Jesus said to follow HIM, and set up the communion in remembrance of HIM.
Both Buddha and Jesus agree with this wisdom.
In the past during our discussions on Certifigate, I recall you saying you were Buddhist. I may be mistaken.

Yup—CS Lewis was very sharp—and anyone of any belief system can learn a lot from him.
I put a link to this article on in the C.S. Lewis page on FaceBook.
It was shared over 100 times but there were some real Karen type objections to it as well. Two (I think) white women in particular went out of their way to insult me and made just breathtaking negative generalizations of the people that might like the article.
Truth is truth, where ever it comes from.
