Whoever wrote this is totally ignorant of the current state of the art in PCR. The ONLY thing true in the article is the statement that PCR is not an “analytical technique”, which it is not....it is a chemical means of amplifying a biological “signal” in a background of biological noise. The amplified result is then detected by some other means than PCR (capillary or gel electrophoresis in full genome determination, or a fluorescent-tagged biochemical indicator molecule) to actually detect the target analyte.

The problem of “false positives” is well-known and well-characterized.
