Well, besides me and Mrs rktman, pretty sure we know the type that moved to Reno.

Yes, the traffic and congestion in the DC area is unbearable. It never stops.

...it is very discouraging to see our beloved paradise has been discovered.

Yep. For a LONG time, it was unknown, undiscovered, and tucked away in a remote, hard-to-get-to corner of the US. Mom was born up the road in Sandpoint, grew up in Potlatch, and her parents retired to Hayden (close to CdA) in 1966. I've spent a lot of time in ID all those years. Both Dad and his brother married Idaho girls and my uncle and family never left ID. I liked the West better when it was low-key Western and full of ranchers and timber men.

Won’t be for long.

People in Los Angeles were touting Coeur D’Alene as the place to go thirty-five years ago.

I am banned from Springfield Ohio since 1974.

“To an extent, this nuance of the index is a reflection of its focus on home-price growth, said Danielle Hale, chief economist at Realtor.com. In these markets, “demand is really high, and supply is also relatively tight,” Hale said. “They’re not oversupplied.”

That contrasts with the broad Sun Belt region where “builders have done a better job of keeping up and building, so they don’t have quite the same supply constriction,” Hale added.”

Coeur d’Alene sounds like paradise.

It's gorgeous, as is Pend Oreille and much of the surrounding area. I'm not a big fan of snow, so it would be paradise for 3 seasons. I guess I could visit friends and family in warmer climates during winter months.

“Some nice parts of the country that will turn more blue thanks to the virus spreading from the shitholes.”

People in North Idaho are acutely aware of that. Unfortunately, the Dem party is VERY active in Idaho trying to turn it purple. They are growing fast and raising lots of money.

All the retired cops from LA moved to CdA. We have SO many retired LEOs up here.

“Springfield, Ohio is #3? Wow.”

Some people still think they will find the Simpson’s living there. :D

Yes, and they will bring their crappy politics with them. See Palm Beach County, Florida, where the influx of New Yorkers turned it blue in ‘92 and it hasn’t budged since.

Winters vary a lot. This winter was extremely mild, less than five feet of snow. Only a couple of 8-10 inch dumps, but they didn’t last long. We didn’t have snow on the ground that many days. Fortunately, the ski resorts did pretty well.

Springfield, Ohio.

They have to be kidding.

Must be more mobsters moving in.

That place, and every Springfield as far as I am concerned, is a cesspool of corruption.

Much of Florida is becoming built out and running against the Everglades. My parents left NY for Boca Raton in ‘91 when there was still land left. That was 30 years ago and your only option in Palm Beach County these days is to build “up.”

Idaho is breathtakingly beautiful.

I wish I could move there, or TN. Alas..not yet..

That’s great to hear because my town is being over run with Northeasterners. Glad to know they have decided to someplace else.

I remember when I lived in Broward County, there was a little hamlet called “Andytown” out in the sticks, it’s all been developed by now.

“Austin-Round Rock, Texas”

Austin has Southern California-level real estate prices.
