Rep. Liz Cheney said in an interview with Punchbowl News Thursday that she will stand behind her vote to impeach former President Trump "every day of the week" as she faces multiple primary challengers in her 2022 reelection effort.
Cheney, R-Wyo., is the chair of the House Republican conference and has taken heat from many on the right over her vocal condemnation of Trump after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol by a mob of his followers.
That has spurred Trump's wrath in multiple forums and triggered a handful of Republicans to announce primary challenges to her -- Trump said in a statement earlier this month he will endorse one of them soon.
But Cheney told Puncbbowl News that she has no plans to back away from her stance that impeaching Trump was the right thing to do.
"I'm confident I'm gonna win. It's gonna be, certainly, a challenging primary. I'm preparing for that right now. We've got multiple opponents," Cheney told the publication on a podcast that will be released in full later Thursday.
"I'm gonna fight hard and I'm not gonna take it for granted," she continued. "But I also think there are some pretty big constitutional issues at stake, and I think those are really important. So anybody who wants to get in that race and who wants to do it on the basis of debating me about whether or not President Trump should have been impeached, I'll have that debate every day of the week."
The third-ranking Republican in the House of Representatives also said in a separate press call Wednesday that speculation she might not run for reelection is "wishful thinking." She said she is "absolutely dedicated" to "earning the votes of the people of Wyoming."

Is this from the Babylon Bee... Or is this woman that stupid???
There is no middle ground
Liz Cheney once again demonstrates that she is unqualified for public service. She is filled with irrational hatred and jealousy.
What happened to this woman? Didn’t she used to be smart and a future star for Conservatives?
"You nailed the issue. She needs one primary opponent, not one."
Her only path I can see is if the primary is too crowded and the opposition splits the vote too much. They should clear out for Bouchard, the front runner.
Maybe Cheney’s hoping Democrats vote her in.
She doesn’t have to worry she is in the party of dumpster losers. 80 million will show up on election day and vote for whom ever trumps chooses
Eisenhower. IMO one of the best. The last of an extinct species, the Main Street president. Ended Korea. Kept us out of new hot wars. Balanced the budget through prodigious use of the veto. His warning about the military industrial complex was really part and parcel of his attempt to limit government spending. 50% of the budget then was defense. Today it is 15%, not because defense is smaller but because of the enormous growth of non-defense spending that began with LBJ. We walked through the socialism door in 1965 and have just kept going.
I put Ike as a solid #2 behind Reagan in terms of my all-time favorite Presidents.
Combined with his job during WWII, he was the Greatest American of the 20th Century.
When he ran Eisenhower was regarded as a moderate with Robert Taft representing the conservative GOP wing. Taft would have pulled us out of NATO in 1953, as if Stalin’s Soviet Union would have been good boys and not taken advantage of the resulting weakness of Western Europe.
And that could be her saving grace. We need *one* strong opponent that knows what they are doing. Not multiple opponents to where 65% could vote against her with her emerging victorious. Her name is Cheney and she's in Wyoming. She almost certainly can get 35% of the vote or more and emerge victorious with split opposition.
Keep digg’n that hole *itch.
Not only removal from her house post, but a state recall must be considered. Unfit.
