University of Illinois trustees voted to remove the name of the longest-serving U.S. Supreme Court chief justice from the University of Illinois-Chicago law school after a task force said John Marshall's history as a slave owner and trader "render him a highly inappropriate namesake for the law school.”
The University of Illinois at Chicago merged with the private John Marshall Law School in 2019 to create the city's first public law school, named UIC John Marshall Law School. It will be renamed the UI-Chicago School of Law effective July 1, the News-Gazette reported.
The task force report issued in February stated that despite Marshall's legacy "as one of the nation’s most significant U.S. Supreme Court justices, the newly discovered research regarding his role as a slave trader, slave owner of hundreds of slaves, pro-slavery jurisprudence, and racist views render him a highly inappropriate namesake for the law school.”

The Chicago law school opened in 1899 and was named for Marshall.
One wonders if the Chicago Public Schools will cancel the name of John Marshall High School as well?

There will eventually be no public places named in honor of anyone from before about the year 2000. Reason being, any such individual will have something objectionable in their history, objectionable to today’s political correctness.

We should just go back to naming stuff after a town, the street, or something generic.
I worked at a hospital named after a Catholic Bishop who got exposed as a pedophile post-facto. It cost us thousands to replace his name. If we had just named it Chestnut St Hospital, it would have saved everyone trouble and expense. And customers would have known where it was located.
Ask anyone responsible for signage….naming stuff is a pain in the neck.

The school in question is not a law school. It is a racist indoctrination center that has as it’s sole purpose the defense of Chicagoan black murderers who must be saved from prison at all costs.

Probably in another three hundred years every institution will have another name change—to get rid of all the anti-white racist names!
Would today's woketards have given up their college studies or their jobs to go fight against a superior force with a real chance of being killed? I doubt it. And then go on to become a distinguished jurist as Marshall did? I doubt it. It's easy for them to open their drug-addled stupid mouths to condemn, but what have they done to even remotely approach the accomplishments of those who they condemn, those whose memorials they topple?
As an old adage says, "Your taste is all in your mouth!" The "heroes" of today are people of absolutely no morals or substance. Polls of "most popular woman", "most popular man", "most admired", etc. reveal the frightening superficiality of those demanding renaming of schools and toppling statues. We of another generation with the perspective and better education decry the wholesale destruction of American history--good or bad, it happened--and the attempt to replace it with a cast of criminals, traitors to our country, and empty-headed celebrities. Once destroyed, we have no way of replacing statues and memorials; that bit of history is lost to us. It's like replacing fine antiques, with their rich wood and impeccable workmanship with cheap crap made in China.
I can only hope that enough Americans will stand up to this woketard wave and say no to wiping away our American history.
