President Biden on Wednesday spoke at the funeral of former Republican Sen. John Warner of Virginia, saying he showed that bipartisanship is possible “in the battle for the soul of America.”
Biden said Warner’s decision to endorse him last year “gave me confidence, not about winning but about being able to do the job.”
“In the battle for the soul of America today, John Warner is a reminder of what we can do when we come together as one nation,” Biden said.
Warner, the sixth husband of actress Elizabeth Taylor, was a World War II and Korean War veteran and was known for his influence on military affairs.

As I posted previously, John Warner was such a RINO he endorsed Mark Warner for his VA Senate seat twice and actually made a commercial for him over Ed Gillespie, whom Mark Warner very narrowly (I think it was 14,000 votes) beat Gillespie six years ago in VA. He was a bootlicker, voted against Judge Bork for the Supreme Court bc his lawyer patron wanted him to, and none too bright (Nixon is heard on the tapes in response to criticism over a SecNav appointment, “Hell, any a****** can do it - we even had John Warner doing it”). He won’t be missed, at least in this house.

Exactly - he back stabbed Ollie North after, Ollie won the primary fair and square - he backed a third party candidate to ensure Ollie would not get a Senate seat - Warner was GOPe thru and thru.
John Warner was a classic example of an “Assistant Democrat”.
