I can think of a lot of reasons not to confirm Omarova. Her antipathy towards the very banking industry she would be regulating is not something that would build confidence in the financial sector. The overregulating she seems to be advocating would be just as harmful as underregulating in terms of fostering fairness in the system. And on and on. But the Kennedy clown show of yesterday just makes her appear to be a victim and detract from the very real questions about her nomination.
In the Trump era, Democrats were on offense and every little action by Republicans was ridiculed. Now the Democrats have to play defense, and as political performances go, Kennedy's wasn't one of the most embarrassing ones.
I have a friend who’s retired and is about a 2 handicap golfer. Amazing guy but his wife agrees with me that he shoots himself in the foot almost daily due to a severe case of “analysis paralysis”.
The questions Kennedy was quite politely asking this woman needed to be asked. Confirming radical Omarova to this important position would be rather like confirming AOC to the Supreme Court.
