She probably got jury points for playing the female victim card.
From the article: Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes has been found guilty on 4 counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud after 7 days of jury deliberation.
She was charged with 9 counts but EACH of the counts carries a sentence of up to 20 years, $250K fine and restitution.
She needs to get tagged the full 20 years, IMO.
She was a ver clever con artist. She positioned herself as a young, pretty science wunderkind and knew the media and celebrities would eat that up, giving her credibility with investors that she had no business having. All she had to do was be their token woman-in-STEM vision and celebs, the media, banks, investors would believe any outrageous claim. Clever, using their “we need to make someone an icon for the cause!” to steal a lot of dough.
“30 days community service in the judge’s chamber”
Word to defendants: Guys, you may be able to be women now, but your new gender is not a sure-fire get out of jail card.
Will they award with her company pension & pay her legal fees like mccabe’s deal?
This woman is insane. Read about her desire to be Steve Jobs and her path of destruction to become him.
Her book and other media deals will be worth millions. I hope there’s a clawback plan.
“Bad Blood” was an interesting book about her.
Will she start speaking in her regular voice from now on?
I have been thinking about this.
Having been in “bad” companies before, Theranos seems like among the worst. But it was NOT unique in the pharma sphere.
I read Bad Blood, and it amused me a bit. In some places, her actions would have lead to a revolt on the shop floor, but I gathered the west coast operates more on fear than other places.
My point is she got slammed because she defrauded the elite.
The financial press was so enthusiastic to pump up a self-made billionairess they made little attempt at the due diligence they would have subjected J. Random Dude who was making similar claims.
