The longtime Democratic strategist James Carville threw cold water on Sen. Kyrsten Sinema's chances for reelection if Rep. Ruben Gallego challenges her for the party's 2024 Senate nomination in Arizona.
In a recent Vox interview that was published on Thursday, Carville expressed confidence in Gallego's chances if he were to launch a primary run against the freshman senator, who was first elected in a 2018 race against then-Republican Rep. Martha McSally to great fanfare among state Democrats.

Sinema knows Arizona better than Carville does.

She’ll destroy Gallego. She is doing exactly what her base wants her to do. She is not a radical leftist like Jeff Flake or John McCain were...

ok - the truth is was wasn’t legally elected and once the election system in AZ is reformed we’ll have two Republican senators.
To: ChicagoConservative27
In the meantime, the Republicans will fail to put a candidate up to the task to win the seat. Hopefully one of our Congressmen/women will give it a shot.

If Gallego wins, then the senate seat will go to Republican. Gallego is a left wing extremist.

Arizona has an open primary, meaning Independents can vote in the dem primary, and there are many more independents than dems in this state. Bet there will be lots of Independents voting for Sinema. The concern is how many will vote for her over the republican in the general election...
To: Beave Meister
You are kidding. Al lousy McCain and Flake were, she is far, far to the left from them!

Actually, she's worse, but she is playing her part brilliantly and faces no challenge from Ruben Gallego. I've lived here in Phoenix for over three years, and I have never even heard of him. Sinema will get big corporate donations, has name recognition, can credibly present herself as her own woman, and is in a state that has sometimes real Republican opposition, so the party bosses would rather keep a seat that had been Republican for a LONG time.

When was the last time Carville predicted something correctly? The world of US politics is a lot different than it was in 1994... or 2004... or even 2014 for that matter.
Sinema is a lot of things, and conservative or even moderate aren’t really there for her, but something she understands far better than serpenthead is how to win an election in Arizona. She has to be beaten in an election, she won’t just lose on her own.

It would be better if Gallegos won the primary. He is way too far Left for AZ and would lose the general.

Whomever the AZ DNC Machine decides should be the candidate, that’s who will win. No use pretending it’s on issues or merits. They’ll bribe, blackmail or generate a real or imagined scandal on the one they don’t want.
