Russia is awash in cash and commodities and after 80 years of western economic warfare on it is largely immune to embargoes and sanctions. They make EVERYTHING themselves. We are pathetically dependent on the Middle East and China for our survival. Russia can turn the gas taps off and sink the EU any time she wants and the rise in gas prices from her other customers will more than cover the loss. The ruble is stronger now than before the sanctions too-that should tell you something. This economic nuclear option the west is engaged through psychopathic mental midgets like Nuland and Blinken is a ridiculous pipe dream that’s going to blow up in our faces in autumn. Even the UK and EU are admitting it.

No way Putin has won. He has wasted incredible amounts of his military, what had not already been destroyed by corruption and neglect. He has repeated the big mistake of Afghanistan—acting so brutally that he has created a generation and decades of hate. Maybe he will hold on to some of the oil/gas land he was aiming for, but at what cost??? The NATO alliance has been strengthened, and NATO countries will probably now pay their share for military costs.

Some posters apparently prefer the David vs. Goliath scenario, so they’re lapping up everything the MSM tells them, lol.

They make EVERYTHING themselves.

I suspect you are mistaken. Where are the Russian digital items? You do not see them. They rely on others for their high tech chips.

Lots of countries can be self sufficient at the level of 1900 technology. It gets harder at the 1950 level, much harder at the 1980 level, and very difficult at the 2000 level.

Russian tech seems stuck about 1980-1990.

Since Putin’s goal was to take away the oil and gas in eastern Ukraine and around Crimea, he might achieve his objective. Since he is using up his military resources fast, while Ukraine keeps getting more of these from Europe and the US, it appears that Putin will be behind.

Putin’s supply lines are shortened in the east. He doesn’t care much about Russian casualties, and he doesn’t mind slaughtering Ukes. This is gonna get ugly.

This conflict will leave Russia in command of all the mainchoke points of the global food system and Breadline-Joe Biden and the other deep-staters want to impost economic sanctions and deny Russia access to Western financial products that Russia does not need.....

Did you ever try to put katsup or barBQ sauce on a financial service and EAT it?? That is beyond stupid....

What they want is CONTROL of those gas & oil reserves. They don’t want a competitor selling energy to Europe. This whole war is about oil.

The last time there was a local tyrant who invaded his neighbor over oil rights, there was an international coalition that kicked his ass back to Iraq. The only mistake was that we didn’t round him up.

Putin was in the catbird seat regarding Keeyieyyev. If he took it within 72 hours like most of us thought he would do, then it woulda been a victory for him. Since he didn’t take it, he tied up forces in the north, enabling him to establish that land bridge around Mariupol to the south.

Yeah, that’s what he wanted to do. Yeah…that’s the ticket.

It must be demoralizing to come one here day after day after day and explain how this is going to plan.

I see you lost two more generals today. Was that in the plan?

Russia sucks. I enjoy watching them die.

Absurd. Russias land mass is 11 time zones, from the Baltics to Alaska. Chocked full of natural resources. Russia is self sufficient, it has everything the west needs, food, grains, wheat, gas, diesel, oil, NG, water, metals, commodities.

Yes, Russia is the biggest country in the world. All that wealth and an economy less than the size of New York. Ukrainian land and what is beneath it it are worth trillions. Any dime bag Russian mafia would try to steal it given the chance. Putin’s kleptocracy always is in need of more assests to strip. Just today there are reports of Ukrainian grain stolen form Kherson by the Russian army and sent for export via Crimea. You are supporting raw banditry like that, FRiend.

BTW, thanks for taking your mask off. I’ve noticed many Putinists have a personal connection to Russia. I’ve noticed that Putinism is like some religions in that the “converts” are the most radical.

No reason to be that underdeveloped.

If he took it within 72 hours like most of us thought he would do, then it woulda been a victory for him.

If Russians Elite forces had taken Kyiv's Antunov Airport, this war would have been over.

Patriotic Ukraine units resisted until Ukraine reserves were moved up. Russian helicopters were decimated and Russian transports—who were to have landed—turned back. Not much was left of the original Russian Elite forces after two days of fighting.

My sons based at Ft. Bragg was on mission that August, and 6 days later was in Saudi Arabia along the northern border with Kuwait. I paid a lot of attention to what was going on there. I was wondering why we did not keep the attack going longer as we decimated the retreating Iraquis as they fled from Kuwait with lots of loot. Then I read that Gorbachev was at risk of being overthrown by other Russians who disapproved of his opening toward the west. Then it made sense. However, I still think we should have continued the pursuit for 12 more hours to destroy Saddam’s Republican Guard. The other mistake was not maintaining a No Fly Zone after the fighting was over. This failure caused much misery for the hapless Iraq people as son Kusai(sp?) followed dad’s orders to punish various groups.
