With Republican primaries in West Virginia and Nebraska underway, Michael Steele, Chuck Todd, Kimberly Atkins Stohr, Mark Murray, and Vaughn Hillyard join Andrea Mitchell to discuss this latest test of Trump’s influence over the Republican Party through his endorsements.
“It doesn't matter whether they win or lose. He doesn't like the stain of a loss, but even a loss is a win for him,” says Steele. “He's got these candidates groveling to him. You know, Mooney crosses state lines just to be on the stage with Donald Trump in Pennsylvania,” Steele explains. “The establishment still has no clue what to do, so they capitulate and buckle. So where does Trump lose in any of this?”

Steel has a lot of fellow travelers in the GOP.
Steele is someone who will say whatever those signing his checks want him to say.
He should be just ignored.
I would say “What the h3ll happened to him, anyway?” but - *sigh* - we know all too well, don’t we?
Bribery, extortion, blackmail. Pick one or more. Probably from within the party.

That is the profile of pretty much every Establishment Republican at a US Chamber of Commerce event.
Steele wishes they would have grovelled for him a fraction as much.

Agree. But I’m not sure they are getting their money’s worth out of him. ;)
The establishment doesn’t understand any of this, they thought they had killed him... they stole his election, the portrayed him as instigating a riot and insurrection, they thought they had him dead and buried and he’s still the most influential man in politics, as much as they try to suppress and ignore him.
They don’t get it, and haven’t since the start... and that’s fine, we’ll keep beating their arses whether they get it or not.

Steele is the Stepin Fetchit of the Republican establishment and seems to enjoy his role. But at least he’s clean and articulate.
And no different from any Democrat when it comes to his hatred of true conservatives.
