A shocking new poll puts Republican Christine Drazan just slightly ahead of Democrat Tina Kotek in the Oregon governor’s race.

Conducted between May 25-27, the new poll from Nelson Research showed Drazan had 29.5 percent of support out of 516 likely voters, while Kotek had just 27.5 percent of support with a margin of error of 4.3 percent. Independent Betsy Johnson trails with just 19.4 percent of support.

Temper your enthusiasm. Yes, it would be something, just keep in mind who counts the vote.

And at some point, the independent candidate should admit she cannot win and throw her support to the Republican candidate. Why no do something useful instead of being a spoiler on election day?

It’s Oregon, Clackamas and Multnomah counties will make sure the Dem wins.

People only vote Republican when things get so yucky, that they hold their noses and vote (R).

No worries, mate. The Repubs still have plenty of time to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.*

...just slightly ahead of Democrat Tina Kotek

Sounds like a brand of tampon.

The below is not my opinion but what I hear from my millennial relatives sitting around the campfire...

Republicans need a "coolness" factor. When young people think of the Republican party, they think of folks like Mitch McConnell and Mitt Romney. Not cool people.

Republicans need to shake the "fuddy duddy" image they have had for decades now.

There is some coolness working itself into the party, such as Marjorie Taylor Greene and Ron DeSantis. Need more of that and less of the stuffed shirt RINOs who go along with the Democrats because they are too weak to stand for something on their own.

The younger crowd are more conservative then they are given credit for and they see how the Democrats are becoming the anti-American Communist Party.

Oregon is 100% mail in voting. Kotek owns the bureaucracy, the legislature, the cities, and the SOS. She will win.

Every election they have these polls and the Communist Party machine finds the votes.

The Oregon Republicans are quite conservative and fighters in Oregon. But hopelessly out numbered by Portland, Eugene, and Salem.

I think Steve Bannon is incredibly cool but then I’m not a millennial. Elon musk may be adding some coolness factor as he’s announced he’s voting GOP at least. Kevin Kiley in CA seems cool to me. Cernovich is surely cool.

“Just” 19 percent support for a so-called independent? That’s obviously a very LARGE number for a 3rd-party type and shows how unpalatable both major party candidates are.

For Oregon to hate a Republican candidate is pretty much expected at all times no matter how much of a liberal squish that candidate is; for them to turn against a Democrat is not normal, even though their current Governor is probably the least popular in the nation.

But then she wasn’t exactly phenomenally popular in 2018 either and still was re-elected easily. This IS Oregon, after all.

Kind of a small sample it would seem.

One wouldn't think the Dems are worried. Oregon has mail-in voting, haven't they?

Yes, we are definitely trending in the right direction with regard to the "coolness factor" in the GOP.

Most Freepers scoff at such a notion but we need that to bring some of the younger folk over to our side. Stuffed shirts have no appeal.

Mitt Romney has the perpetual look of a cuckolded man who came home early one day and caught his wife in the act with the landscaping guy. Not a good look.
