- Ukraine said on Thursday it had received U.S. supplies of High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), a powerful long-range weapon system that Kyiv hopes can help turn the tide on Russia's invasion.
"Thank you to my U.S. colleague and friend Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin for these powerful tools! Summer will be hot for Russian occupiers. And the last one for some of them," Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov tweeted of the HIMARS delivery.
He did not say how say many of the systems had arrived.
Ukraine says it needs the HIMARS systems to better match the range of Russian rocket systems that it says are being extensively used to pummel Ukrainian positions in Donbas.
Washington has said it has received assurances from Kyiv that those longer-range weapons would not be used to attack Russian territory, fearing an escalation of the conflict.
Moscow has warned it will strike targets in Ukraine which they "have not yet been hitting" if the West supplies longer-range missiles to Ukraine for use in high-precision mobile rocket systems.

This news should make all neocons ecstatic.
it should also make you Russian shills very sad
They are crewed by US advisors.
Do you really think overusing a word makes it mean more? Why not try something less shopworn, like crying ‘racist’.
I am for arming Ukraine to fight its invaders. I am also for Texans going to the border and blowing away a few coyotes. Invaders deserve to die. Does that make me a “neocon”? If so, it’s a good thing.
One step closer to armageddon. Yay!
Actually, one step further away.
I don’t think these are actually characterized as “long range”.
Since they can’t hit moscow from ukraine territory, they would be “not enough” range.
I think they can hit minsk though.
God damn you twisted neocons a-holes to hell. All you're managing to do is get more Ukrainians and civilians killed.
Yeah I am sure Russia is so happy to hear that. I think biden is making a mistake. All this help and russia will win anyways. But they know that.
And then possibly Americans when this turns into WWIII. 🤬
If you really don’t want to see Ukrainians killed, then you should be calling for Russia to retreat back to its own borders, right?
The French howitzers have been captured by Russia and are undergoing examination now.
HIMARS next.
Jerkoffs want their war...
You are not an American.
Get your Israelis to fund and arm the Ukrainians.
You’re making that up LOL
You need to brush up on geo-politics.
Read up on why Cuban missile crisis took place almost triggering WWIII.
Read up on why Russia did not attack Finland, Latvia & Estonia.
I will try to help you along...
Countries who think they are superpowers do not relish enemy camp weapons on their border. That is why US Navy blockaded Cuba after discovery of Soviet missiles.
Russia did not attack Finland, Latvia or Estonia, even they are also on Russian border, because they were not pushing for NATO membership (which brings in NATO weapons). Only Zelensky was pushing for NATO membership.
You are comparing oranges and apples with your example of illegals flooding in from southern border. It is NOT invasion by Mexico military. There are no Russian illegals flooding into Ukraine.
Might help a bit, after a month or so of training.
That’s why I am asking— to whose good is this interminable war of attrition? we all know it will eventually end with a ceasefire and negotiated border settlement.. Nothing will change, basically, except Russia will own the Donbas and a whole lot of Ukrainians will be dead.
btw Spaced, putting emojis after a post doesn’t make it look any more factual or effective
it just make you look like an immature teenaged girl
(next time include some hearts and happy faces, okay?)
