Dutch farmers and the government failed to reach a deal on Friday on environmental plans that have sparked weeks of angry demonstrations.
Farmers have blocked roads with manure and set fires to protest against plans to reduce livestock and even close some farms to cut down on nitrogen emissions.
Talks on Friday produced "really too little", said Sjaak van der Tak, head of the LTO, the main Dutch farming union, adding that the "ball is in the government's court".
The official overseeing the talks, Johan Remkes, said there was "grave crisis of confidence" between the farmers and the government of the Netherlands, which is the world's second-biggest agricultural exporter after the United States.
Remkes, who recently led tortuous negotiations on forming a new coalition government, added that the differences "went deeper than nitrogen".

The Dutch farmers are right. And they are going to lose. The state has all the power. They have the laws. And they have the police.
Too bad for the Dutch farmers. And too bad for the average Dutch citizen. Food will become more expensive, if available at all. But the elite won’t have to worry. They still will get the pick of the crop.
The government should take a page out of Trudeau’s operating manual. Throw them in jail, seize all their equipment and freeze all their bank accounts. That includes anyone supporting them in any way.
They need a new government but they’ll all clones of this one

The farmers need to insist the all food imports can only come from countries that have the same restrictions on their farmers as the Dutch government has on them.
I saw this out of the corner of my eye and thought the government was calling the farmers Neandertals.
If .gov is just gonna steal their livelihood , I’d just give the land back to the sea .

Part of this blame goes to the 2021 election, and 17 parties getting a minimum of one seat in their parliament. The ‘winner’ of the election? Basically getting 22-percent, which makes it near impossible to form a 50-percent coalition government.
If the farmers really wanted to reshape the situation...I’d select the smallest partner of the coalition (has five members in the parliament) and put intense pressure on them to quit the coalition.
New elections would come, and Rutte’s party would take even fewer votes this time around.

I believe that is the plan. It is an international plan, which leads to food shortages and mass starvation.
In Ireland, also, farmers are being hit with new legislation, whereby, by cutting their productivity, they will somehow solve global warming. If they go along with this, then it shows that the Irish really have forgotten The Famine.
