Does the California drought also cause dementia? Or is it that the LEFT wants to get everything they can before the water level gets past their chin as it rises? One thing I am sure of, this is the dream of the labor unions and just adds to what CA has already done with making everybody an employee rather than a contractor.

Thought here for consideration though. Can you think of ANYTHING more conducive to MASSIVE automation in the fast food restaurants than this? Till now it has not been economical due to the capital costs but at that labor hour cost? RETHINK!

You need to look at this through progressive colored glasses. All the state has to do is also regulate the cost of a burger. Force the employer to pay more then force the consumer to pay more. What if the consumer balks at paying the new price, you ask? The all powerful state also has ways to force you to buy as many burgers, at whatever price, the state decides you need.

Why not just raise the minimum wage?

What they’ve effectively done is unionized the entire restaurant industry in California and nobody voted for that.

I wonder how they will decide which restaurants are "fast food" restaurants.

There were issues when they wanted to tax food that was eaten there vs. take out because grocery stores started selling meals and they didn't want to be taxed like restaurants.

Also, there was a rule that applied to some baked goods and producers wanted their products reclassified so as not to come under the new tax.

It's just a word game now.

NYC used to have something called an “automat.” I expect we will see their return before this is over.

i was going to say that even the Californicators in Sacramento wouldn’t dare put McD’s out of business (or double their already=supersized prices)
since so many of their core constituency (outside of the graveyard) are McD addicts

also, who’d get rid of all the roadkill?

“They would set hourly wages of up to $22 for fast food workers starting next year and can increase them annually by the same rate as the consumer-price index, up to a maximum of 3.5%.”

Leftism is a serious mental disorder.

no, the new drought doesnt cause dementia
Californicator political hacks have been commies and dementos for many years

almost zero infrastructure building...almost none... for 50 years... ever since Governor Jerry (Edmund G., Jr.) Brown stopped it

ironically, the public voted for Jerry because they figured he’d be like his Daddy (Governor Edmund G, Senior). Senior made his reputation, was famous for building needed infrastructure of all kinds (and with surprisingly little corruption or graft, at least not visibly)

that state’s population has tripled,..without hardly any new water supply, highways, power plants, electrical distribution grid, etc.

so, droughts and power outages and fires have become the norm in the once-golden, now-ashen state of Californication

its been totally phuqued over by its leftist political hacks (and a totally worthless, neutered, almost invisible GOP)

beware, the same destruction-by-government is coming your way

The Union’s also want the dues that the fast food workers pay. Fast food workers wi not benefit from so much as a dime on this.

The very idea of an appointed board of politicians and members of various special interest groups setting wage rates for a business--never mind where these workers are employed or what kind of work they do--is not a new idea.

The Soviets routinely underpaid conscripted workers and at the same time overpaid party functionaries to buy their loyalty.

"I don't make much, but then I don't do much."

That phrase might have been appropriate after the Bolsheviks seized power and began corralling Russians into work camps where the idea of "equity" meant everyone suffered equally.

Even that was an illusion, as everyone is different. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, skills and disabilities, none of which would translate easily to a certain dollar amount expressing our "worth" in any given job.

When the government mandates wages, some will be paid what they are worth. Others will not.

Chances are those who are overpaid will stay. It's a gravy train.

Would you invest in a company whose profitability depends on the make-up of a politically-appointed board whose members have no stake in the company?

Probably most fast food workers in major metro ares of Californication make close to that anyway.

Insanity.

When there should be no such thing as “min wage” at all.

Get rid of MW as it is a fascist regulation, forcing people to do something they don’t want to, and it likely fuels much of the illegal alien problem.

He’s not fooling anybody he just found a way to make a lot of homeless shelters after they shut the doors.
