Green parties in Europe have been hit over the head with a two-by-four called reality. Their sanctimonious preaching about dangers of fossil fuels and climate change is not jibing with the reality of energy situation in Europe. There has been a sneering condescension by Greens toward anyone who questions their monopoly on the “truth of climate change” and what should be done about it.
But Greens in France, Great Britain, and other EU countries are out of power. They can bash the government for their reliance on fossil fuels to their hearts’ content because they don’t have to put any political capital where their mouths are.
Except in Germany. The Greens are members of Chancellor Olaf Schulz’s left-wing coalition and are now dealing with the uncomfortable realities of power. And one of those realities is that since Russia invaded Ukraine, German supplies of natural gas have largely been held hostage by Russian president Vladimir Putin, whose pipelines supply Germany with 27% of Germany’s overall energy mix. Before the start of Russia’s war in Ukraine, just over half (55%) of gas consumed in Germany was imported from Russia.
Since then, Putin has played footsie with Europe by shutting down the Nord Stream pipelines for “maintenance” twice — the second time ten days ago. And now, Putin has shut the natural gas pipeline down “indefinitely,” forcing Germany and much of Europe into hard choices.
Now the Greens are having to make a great energy leap. As members of the German government they are staring close up at the realities of soaring energy prices. They are having to face the prospect of the lights going off this winter, and of public buildings in major cities such as Hamburg already trying to ration the amount of electricity they use.

You laugh at Trump, then I’ll laugh at your frozen dead kraut corpses in the winter.
Wait until Greta gets wind of this.
Somebody should tell Greta. We are in this mess partly because ha adults listened to a 14 year old child.
Ain’t green great?
“We are in this mess partly because ha adults listened to a 14 year old child.”
I was listening to someone talk today about how the Greens use children to make their crazy political statements. He said, “They’re doing this because you can’t criticize a child. If you do, you’re the monster.” Yep.
Tough Luv.
Greta reportedly yelling “how dare you?”
The Greens most likely think that we did not switch soon enough and the current situation is just an example of why we need to double down....
The Green Party’s will drag the EU over the cliff with them before they would admit anything was wrong with Unicorns and Rainbows
They must have called in John Kerry-Heinz to reach that “DUH” moment.
Sounds like a great screenplay bro....you should pitch it to the industry execs. 😁
Why not make the carbon that is reduced = THEM?
Crazyfornia currently coming to the same realization
See 16.

Yes sir! Standard technique of the Left. Decades ago, a friend of mine picked up on the same and noted that President Clinton ALWAYS had children and uniforms (cops, soldiers, etc.) ‘protecting’ him when he spoke. The Greens have used the same very, very, effectively to SILENCE debate.
She was a mentally unwell 14 year old child.
Green lunatics are not capable of confronting “sobering reality, rational analysis or accountability. The barbaric Germans who began two world wars, performed crimes against humanity, caused the loss forever of Europe’s best genetic stock and were the prime destroyers of Western culture deserve all the suffering that their absurd green policies bring them.
