This should be epic. Most of those sidewalk squatters have been milking the disability angle for years.
Well, maybe this pushy tribe of obnoxious winers* will again do some good. The crosswalk curb cutdowns were great, thank you, and the overabundance of handicapped parking spaces, but other than that it’s been a long dry spell.
*That’s a quote from my best friend, the now deceased dean of admissions of a Florida college. Sam (may he continue to R.I.P.) was one of the last reported cases of polio in Michigan before the Salk vaccine took effect. Paraplegic, lotsa muscle weakness, ventilator in his last decade of life, etc. He refused to ever sit in a wheelchair; had a wheeled scooter instead. “Just because I’m fu**ed up doesn’t mean I can be an ass about it.” (-: Gone nearly 30 years now. Boy, do I miss him.
The National Association of the Deaf should sue regarding mandatory ineffective masking because masks prevent lip reading and that impacts the ability of the deaf to function in society.
Not a super ADA fan, don’t like some of the lawsuits that were brought against small businesses due to some flaw in the structure of their entrance, etc. That is debateable and was debated via litigation as is our American way of doing things.
But, I must say, that the sidewalks are the public thoroughfare, which these disabled persons have paid for by their tax dollars. They are provided for the use of all, abled, disabled, tax payors, children, illegal aliens, etc. to AMBULATE upon. If that way is blocked by persons who are essentially lodging there, well yeah. That’s a violation of the ADA in terms of the disabled, and of the social contract with the rest of the users/payors.

I truly feel bad for the disabled dealing with this crap. I still wonder though how they voted? If they voted for pinkos, well, embrace the suck with everyone else, homey.
As soon as I see the title, I start thinking of the skit from Portlandia where two of the characters are temporarily disabled via injury and join a Disability Rights group to have their grievances addressed....

Along with disability issue it’s a city violation to be defecating, urinating on a public street, health violation. These same Health authorities give citations, close down businesses for bugs, water not hot enough, fridge temps, bathrooms, food storage issues, yet they allow people to piss and crap outside a business on a public sidewalk, block people, etc.
Watch for Portland to create lines in the sidewalk for homeless.
Yea that will fix it.
