Russian forces allegedly trapped at Dnipro River by Ukrainian counter-offensive

According to Ukrainian defence officials, units of Russian troops are now trapped at the Dnipro river after the recent counter-offensive.

During an appearance on the Ukrainian parliament’s television channel on Monday, September 19, Nataliya Humenyuk, the head of the joint press centre of Ukrainian Defence Forces of the South, claimed that units of Russian troops in the Kherson region are now ‘sandwiched’ between the right bank of the Dnipro River and the advancing Ukrainian forces.

“The fire control that we maintain over crossings and transport arteries across the Dnipro makes them understand that they are sandwiched between the defence forces and the right bank – units that are in this part of the Kherson region”, said the New Voice of Ukraine.

Russian troops were being offered a way out explained Humenyuk: “under the auspices of international humanitarian law”. Alternatively, she added, they were given the chance to return to their homeland.

According to Humenyuk, information received by Ukrainian intelligence suggested that the Russian troops were demoralised and probably did not see any point in remaining trapped next to the Dnipro river, as reported by msn.com.

On Sunday, September 18, the British Ministry of Defence claimed that in the face of mounting losses, Moscow is now targeting civilian infrastructures: “in an attempt to directly undermine the morale of the Ukrainian people and government”. One example of this was the recent attack on the country’s electricity grid, which blacked out a large part of Ukraine.

This was evident on Monday when Russia was accused of firing shells that landed only 300m away from the Pivdennoukrainsk nuclear power plant. It is Ukraine’s second-largest such facility, located in the Mykolaiv region. The attack provoked a strong response from Moldova which is only 200km away from the location in question.

James Cleverly will travel to New York today (Tuesday 20 September) to attend United Nations General Assembly high-level meetings this week
the Foreign Secretary will use a UN Security Council meeting on Thursday to call out Russian atrocities
he is also due to hold meetings with his counterparts from the US, Ukraine and India, and attend a G7 foreign ministers’ dinner

Foreign Secretary James Cleverly begins his first overseas trip in his new role today (Tuesday) – arriving at the United Nations in New York for high-level talks as part of the 77th UN General Assembly (UNGA).

During his trip, alongside the Prime Minister, the Foreign Secretary will meet his global counterparts to take action on a series of global challenges, including Russia’s malign activity and building stability in the Middle East.

Ahead of arriving in New York, Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said:

We live in an increasingly unstable, divided world. As Foreign Secretary, I will work to bring countries together to tackle aggression, overcome challenges and promote our democratic values. We will judge others on actions not words.

Every day the devastating consequences of Russia’s barbaric tactics become clearer. There must be no impunity for Putin’s hostility.

His main event of the week will be a special UN Security Council session on Thursday focusing on the situation in Ukraine and ensuring that Russia does not get away with its actions unpunished. The Foreign Secretary will give the UK’s intervention at the meeting, exposing Russian aggression and tactics as they seek to justify their illegal war.

Cleverly is due to have his first bilateral meeting in his new role with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken later today (Tuesday).

He is also due to meet Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, India’s Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Canada’s Melanie Joly tomorrow (Wednesday) and Australia’s Penny Wong on Thursday.

On arrival in New York, he is due to attend a global food security event hosted by the United States, European Union and African Union as 50 million people worldwide face being just one step away from famine.

Also this week, the Foreign Secretary will join partners, including fellow G7 foreign ministers, for an event on nuclear safety, as concerns around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station in Ukraine continue to grow.

Putin should skip ahead to where he kills himself in the bunker.

There still could be some kind of a small breakout to the south, but it appears that 20,000 of Pooty's stooges are becoming encircled and entrapped and will be giving up and stacking what's left of their arms as they surrender to Ukraine.
Thanks UMCRevMom@aol.com.

What a bullcrap. In reality there is a Ukrainian regiment blocked by broken dam in a pocket, actively reduced by Russian artillery.

Ukraine has been handing out "surrender cards" to Russian soldiers containing secret codes with advice on how they can return home alive, reports have claimed. The cards feature a message in Russian for Vlad's invading forces, as well as a QR code on the back with links to further information on how soldiers can surrender to Ukraine. The card goes on: "1. Fold all weapons in front of you at a sufficient distance. 2. Stand in front of military equipment. All equipment must be muffled and not in a combat position. "3. To notify the Ukrainian side of the laying down of arms, a negotiator from the officer corps may be sent without weapons and with raised hands or a white flag. Having surrendered, you must follow all the instructions of the Ukrainian military!" The card guarantees that amnesty will be offered to all Russian soldiers who voluntarily lay down their arms and hand over any military equipment to Ukraine. Those who do surrender are given the chance to call their relatives and friends and explain their situation. It even promises compensation to surrendering Russian soldiers who return home. The card also orders troops to give their Ukrainian captors their full name, rank, date of birth and personal military ID. At the end of their capture, the prisoners of war are guaranteed that they will be released and returned to Russia at the end of the war along with their valuables. Sharing the pictures, he wrote: "Pass it on to the Russian soldier. Can save someone's life."
