Sen. Dianne Feinstein became exasperated with staffers who tried to brief her on the upcoming stopgap funding bill she was to vote for on Thursday, telling them: 'I don't even know what that is.'
Feinstein, 89, has served as a Democratic senator from California for 30 years, and has voted on dozens of continuing resolutions (CR) to fund the government.
According to a private conversation overheard by Insider, Feinstein struggled to get her bearings as she headed into an elevator that brings lawmakers to the Senate floor to vote.

It’s an open secret that Feinstein is non composed mantis and has been for some time. Why don’t they just remove her? Surely Newsome will appoint another Dem. Yet another argument for term limits.
I’d prefer some kind of non-biased competency test.
We had a congress critter here in Indiana who was only 69 but functionally comatose. Wheeled into the chamber to vote on the close ones.

Both my parents were alert and vigorous into their early 80s. Then began the decline (physically and mentally). Neither were mentally sharp by their late 80s.
Yep, she’s over the hill. On the other hand, few Congress critters actually understand what is going on. All research is done by Congressional staff, and when you see a Senator or Representative in hearings asking questions, those questions are drawn up by staff. So, although she may be senile (like our President), she’s not much different than the average Senator or Representative.

Remember a few years ago a pharmacist who filled prescriptions for members of Congress said the public would be horrified if they only knew how many were taking strong meds to try to counter or stave off their cognitive decline. I suspect dozens of them are essentially non compost pimiento.
