The Hill ^ | Oct. 18, 2022 | Daniel de Visé

Cannabis users soon may be a majority among young adults in the District of Columbia and several pot-friendly states, a trend that points to a potential future of destigmatized marijuana across much of the nation.

More than two-fifths of young men and women nationwide now use cannabis at least on occasion, according to federal data, a quotient that has risen steadily in a decade of relentless legalization. Much of the trend is driven by young women, who have all but closed a decades-long gender gap in marijuana use.

Let's hear from the liberaltarian FReepers who insisted that legalizing pot wouldn't result in increased usage.

A pot-addled America is an easily conquered America.

Nancy Reagan just rolled over in his grave.
Unfortunate, and will have generational consequences.

Pot is a relatively benign drug compared to alcohol, cocaine/crack, heroin/fentanyl, etc.

Pick your battles carefully.

The Greatest Generation sure enjoyed their booze.

Nancy was just expressing the view of hundreds of millions of Americans in the War on Drugs, no matter your opinion of that strategy. It was considered antisocial, deleterious and a career killer, and rightly so.

Soon, it will be deemed a “right,” and rights know no state boundaries.

Odd, they get all upset with vaping, Which apparently a lot of kids like to use. But not a word about smoking “UNFILTERED” JOINTS.Now I hear that gummies is the big thing, probably better for you without the inhaled smoke.

Pick your battles carefully.

While you're busy "picking your battles," the left is rolling over you.

I grew up with her slogan of Just say No.
She is fondly remembered for her efforts which I to this day still agree with.

Using is not the same as smoking. THC is sold in candy bars and corn nuts now.

The pot products today aren't your grandfather's pot. THC concentration of typical 70s and 80s pot was a few percent. Products now can have THC concentrations ten to twenty times that.

The most disturbing trend has been use of this high concentration has led to psychosis among users, and addiction.

The stupid idea that pot is “harmless and non-addictive” was a lie.

But what do you expect from a bunch of potheads rationalizing their pot use?

Pick your battles carefully.

Just as cannabis is a gateway drug, legalizing cannabis is gateway legislation to legalizing all recreational drugs. If you don't think that's a bad idea, have I got news for you...

Agreed, but I hope you donned your flame suit before posting. There are a lot of pothead FReepers.

On rental property ...

As landlord I ban smoking anywhere on the property. That has always been tobacco. I ban vaping too.

Can I extrapolate and ban all marihuana too ? Will an Rx override my ban ?
