Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) nominated Sen. Mitch McConnell for reelection as GOP leader after a motion to postpone the leadership election was quashed during a Wednesday meeting among members of the conference.

The motion to postpone the Senate leadership election failed by a reported vote count of 32-16. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) put forward the motion, which Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) supported.

McConnell reelected Senate GOP leader; Scott’s bid rejected

Only ten GOP senators voted against McConnell and one voted present. 37 voted to keep him. This is a great argument to shorten the terms of a senator to four years max. These people don't represent us, and no, they don't represent their state's interest either. They only represent themselves, and whoever gave them the most money.

“..I wonder how McConnell bought him....”

Probably thru the FTX deal. The many GOPe’s were likely as much in it as the RATs. Now that it’s fallen apart. They blackmail and cover each other like good UniParty hacks are supposed to do.

"Sellout scum bucket"

He sold out on January 6th. All but six Republican Senators sold out that day.

No law held him back. Trump was simply stingy about using his PAC to support candidates, even with McConnell pulled funding. They own the result—failed election.

McConnell is primarily responsible for getting Republican Senators elected in the general election, not Trump. McConnell is primarily responsible for their funding. Instead of doing that, McConnell cut off their funds and trashed his candidates. That's McConnell's failure.

BTW, can you name for me when the Republicans last won the popular House vote nationally by as much as 6 millions votes.? That's what happened last week. How often has that happened recently or over the past many decades?

Do you think most of votes were for McCarthy and the RINO's in Congress or do you think that they were for MAGA?

Agree. McConnell has been in Federal jobs since the 74-75 timeframe. He is like Biden. They have both lived off our tax
money for 45-50 years. Sad. Mitch is a do nothing.

Cotton is your typical worthless, RINO squish. May he rot in hell with Mitch. Even though I will vote for Trump, I sometimes have a hard time figuring out who hates us more - the RINOs or the Dems.

HOW many Republicans are involved in the FTX scandal????

HOW ironic would it be if republicans-—trying to hide illegal $$$$$$ have invested in FTX-—voted for Ukraine assistance-—And they are part of the huge losses & the most probable funds sent to Dems for elections???

Republicans-—to FTX—Then vote to send USA TAX $$$ to Ukraine—Then Ukraine ‘invests’ in FTX-—then FTX sends $$$$ back to mostly Dems...

So ‘R’ $$$ got sent to Dems-—a long way around.

Trump had a pac with over $100 million, like lots of politicians and he could have stepped up and helped these candidates. But he didn’t. Both Trump and McConnell failed these candidates and the result is a Democrat hold on the Senate.

I think we are in a strong position to do so.

A lot more Democrats defending seats in 2024 than Republicans.

The rules say “The New Congress” will vote. While that may not be a law this early voting is corrupt and should be a crime.
