Western "sources" have been saying since March that Russia would run out of precision weapons any day now. Even many here on FR.

I recommend they all hold their breath until that happens.

What an astonishing idea, that Russia might have prepared for this war ahead of time by building up weapons stockpiles and strategic materials. Who ever heard of such a thing. Certainly never occurred to anyone in Washington.

Russia fired cruise missile with dummy nuclear warhead, indicating shortage of weapons

Western "sources" have been saying since March that Russia would run out of precision weapons any day now.

On 18 October, Politico reported that Russia is short of precision missiles. The key point is that Russia is always out of missiles.

“I recommend they all hold their breath until that happens.”

No kidding. Sounds to me that Russia simply doesn’t throw out their older weapons. They likely store them, figuring that they could be useful in some, unexpected, future scenarios. After all, storing hardware is not particularly expensive, at least compared to the cost of building new hardware.

The US, on the other hand, has ‘expert’ institutions, such as the Neocon-run “Institute for the Study of War”. Those experts know EVERY war scenario and there is no reason for anyone to doubt their expertise, so if they say that there can never be a use for, say, and old battle-tank model, then THEY KNOW EVERYTHING, and so those tanks are melted down and steel sold to China.

In addition, Russia likely figured out that keeping SOME production of key weapons going and keeping now-unused capacity to ramp up production, puts them in a much better situation, should a need arise to produce weapons quickly. For the US, our Harvard MBAs consider that ‘a waste of resources’ and immediately cut off production funding the moment the target number is reached...after all, our MBAs know everything and the Russian approach is ‘totally yesterday’, as we’re in a new paradigm.

Damn idiots.

Exactly. The “experts” have said so many things about the missile stockpiles that I just laugh at these folks now.

“They apparently have a withhold for a notional NATO attack, which we would regard as absurd, but they regard it as a real possibility,” Cancian said.

Absurd...He says as NATO is attacking Russians, sunk their largest warship, blew up pipelines, built up, advises and leads the Uke army.

I will take a SWAG and say that the US underestimated the Russians, and that Russia has been making their own microprocessors for their advanced weapons - why trust your missiles or cruise missiles to S.Korean, Taiwan or US made chips that might just have a backdoor.

Russia would run out of precision weapons any day now.

They largely did hence they needed massive supplies of the iranian drones and use S 300 SAMs to attack ground targets.

Western “sources” have been saying since March that Russia would run out of precision weapons any day now.

More Pootie propaganda - if he had so many missiles, they’d be used and certainly not begging Iran for more.

It already happened with the use of KH-55s and KH-101s - the later brand new and very expensive, both designed to carry only nuke warheads, now being used up as dummy targets.

Pootie, having destroyed Russia’s military, working on destroying Russian limited work force with forced conscription, now turning to the destruction of its nuclear missile force.

Russia likely stockpiled missiles to fight NATO

What kind of Dilbert thinks up this stupid dreck?

They have only been doing that for the past 75 years.

Perhaps Russia isn’t stupid enough to outsource critical military components to potential adversaries so that they can still produce missiles domestically? The U.S. outsourcing critical military chip production to China was treason, pure and simple.
