POLL: DeSantis remains GOP's top 2024 pick over Trump, most Dem voters don't think Biden should run again
FOX News ^ | December 1, 2022 | Aubrie Spady

Most voters would rather see Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., as the GOP nominee in 2024 over former President Donald Trump, according to a new poll that also found the majority of Democrats do not think President Biden should seek re-election next cycle.

When asked who they would rather see as the 2024 GOP nominee, DeSantis or Trump, 63% said DeSantis would have their vote, while only 36% were rooting for Trump to win the primary.

A Marquette Law School poll revealed that in a hypothetical 2024 matchup between DeSantis and Biden, the two candidates were tied among registered voters, both receiving 42% support. About 11% said they would choose a different candidate.

The results reflect a major increase in support for DeSantis compared to a January Marquette poll where he received only 34% support compared to Biden's 43%. In a March poll from the university, the Republican governor began gaining momentum, locking in 35% support and eventually hitting 38% support in a September survey.

Polls schmols 2 years before election. One event and they can change in a minute. Waste of time.

I’m leaning toward DeSantis but would agree with your assessment nonetheless.

I would have a tough time figuring out who to vote for. I like them both.

Trump is running in '24. Desantis will get crushed if he tries to go against Trump.

I predict that you will be voting for Trump in Nov. ‘24.

Get used to the idea.

Where else are you going to go?

I’ll support DJT for POTUS in 2024, with Ron DeSantis as his VPOTUS for four years so he can “learn the WDC ropes” and help DJT drain the swamp.

Then, Ron Desantis will be “briefed in” as POTUS and will keep MAGA alive for 8 more years!

DJT needs four years to get even with ALL THE LIEBERAL BASTARDS who plotted against him for (by the time he becomes our 47th POTUS!) 10 years!

What is needed now is a person (or persons) to broker a “deal” between President Trump and Governor DeSantis to not trash each other and to work together between now and the 2024 election for the benefit of America!

Together, they can unify America and Make America Great Again!

The poll numbers for Trump vs Biden seem much worse than other polls; Marquette leans to the left. Also, the majority that would prefer DeSantis over Trump includes a lot of people who won’t vote for any Republican anyway. So no, this poll does NOT mean DeSantis will win the primary

But there’s an important finding here: DeSantis has not moved any votes away from Biden as his numbers have grown; simply, people are more willing to vote for him as they get to know him. I find it strange, but many people don’t like to tell pollsters they would vote for a candidate they don’t know, even if they know he’s from the party they support. He probably has further room he can improve.

Trump does not. People aren’t hesitant to vote for Trump because they don’t know him; they are hesitant to vote for him because they do know him, and they don’t like him. He was so hated that people’s hatred for him legitimized many horrible things. And yes, he was unusually targeted by the swamp, but his own absolute lack of credibility due to unvetted Tweets and bizarre or contradictory statements allowed these attacks to the point that he was forced to allow Fauci, Rosenstein and other subordinates to dictate policy.

Yeah-
From CNBC today-

“Former President Donald Trump holds a lead of 30 percentage points over his potential challenger, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, in a hypothetical 2024 Republican primary, a new poll found.”

Everyone else listed on google the Hill, etc all leftists like Fox, trump loses. Might as well not run

They are afraid of him, simple.

Trump is the guy who to this day doesn’t know a bloody thing about the DC ropes. He wasn’t up to the job in 2016 when he was 69 years old; he certainly won’t be ready for it in 2028, when he will be 82.

I supported Cruz, because I didn’t trust Trump. So I held my nose in 2016 and voted for him to defeat Clinton. Trump has earned my trust, and I unabashedly supported him in 2020, despite his incompetence with Fauci, Rosenstein, Congress, etc. But he’s been erratic ever since and we need someone who doesn’t merely start every fight in the universe, but knows how to win.

Why shouldn’t Biden run again- if he is still physically alive? He is a perfect tool with no thoughts of his own. If he is comatose and tube-fed he would still win the “election.”

I’d be more worried about Trump if everyone ignored him. All of this commotion only proves that he is respected and feared. They are the bad guys!
