Secession movements gain traction in US amid deepening political rifts: 'A long-standing problem'

Grassroots movements of Americans seeking a political divorce from their fellow citizens have recently gained traction amid deepening cultural rifts, according to multiple figures involved with secessionist organizations who spoke to Fox News Digital.

Such movements have emerged in every region of the U.S. and vary in their goals. Some aim for entire states to leave the union to form a new country, while others endeavor more simply that rural red counties secede from the domination of blue urban centers to form new states. All agree that the disagreements with their political opponents have grown intractable.

"We're at a point, I think, where America is not necessarily in the balance, but the institution known as the United States is in the balance," Daniel Miller, president of the Texas Nationalist Movement (TNM), told Fox News Digital.

Miller's organization endeavors to see Texas leave the union and revert to the sovereign republic it was from 1836, when it broke from Mexico, until it was annexed by the U.S. in 1845.

They would have to send no one after anyone, they would simply remove certain people from being able to participate in society.

Pretty sure the Founders and the Framers believed that secession was an assumed right of the states. The Constitution is silent on the matter, therefore the 10th Amendment applies.

You forget once the Afghans had shoulder mounted heat-seeking ground to air missles (Stingers) they were devasting the Soviet helos on a daily basis. That's why the Soviets said screw it and left.

Just pointing out that the county map tries to show that the Republicans won. It doesn’t. It would be unconstitutional to count land area.

It’s not inaccurate, just usually interpreted wrongly and so it shouldn’t be posted all over the place.

I said there were other reasons as well, didn’t I? That comment was a quote from someone who was there. It was meant to show the difference in war-fighting philosophy between the two nations and the effect that morale can have. That was his impression, that the recognition that they were fighting with different rules was part of the reason they pulled out.

We can say we’ll secede, and we might give it a good try, but we’ll be stopped in our tracks. They have the military and they’re not afraid to use it. Once we’ve been annihilated, all of our stuff is right there for the taking.
