CARACAS — The vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and alleged drug lord Diosdado Cabello accused the United States on Wednesday of being behind the impeachment and arrest of Peru’s far-left president Pedro Castillo.
Police arrested Castillo on Wednesday after he unsuccessfully attempted to stage a coup in his country on Wednesday by unconstitutionally dissolving Congress and the court system. Rather than execute his orders, the police arrested Castillo, and Congress impeached him out of power.

South Americans have had a hard-on for Americans for decades. There was a book entitled “The Great Face in Latin America,” all about how the gringos influence Latin America.

I highly doubt the US had anything to do with this. It completely goes against the politics of the deep state. The evidence is clear. The US government actively supported the election of Lula da Silva. Why would our government not aid a Commie in Peru after supporting a Commie in Brazil?
My god, that is an old one and Gerassi was effectively a communist who didn’t carry a party card. Much of the book is really amateurishly written rehash of the recent political history of Latin American states to include the Carribean. I remember thinking that some Cuban propaganda hack had probably thrown the book together and got Gerasi to claim authorship for a crude propaganda tract that would otherwise have been unpublishable.
The Spaniards taking over Peru in the 16th century and learning about their potato crop helped saved Europe from the Little Ice Age. Before the LIE Europe had mainly a cereal diet, but those crops couldn’t handle the harsh cold and the uneven rain patterns (no rain for a while during long droughts, then when the rain came it came as gully washers damaging fragile crops, particularly grain heads and brittle stalks above ground). Potatoes handled the LIE climate a lot better and Europe had crop they could eat more regularly (at least after the pope quit banning it because Catholics didn’t like starving while Protestants ate).
Peru points the way out of this global nightmare. I remains to be seen if other countries have what it takes.
