Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered an unusual New Year’s address to his people on Saturday pledging victory against the “neo-Nazis” of the West who are intent on “destroying Russia.”
Putin kicked off his 9-minute speech by noting that the year 2022 “put a lot of things in their place – clearly separating courage and heroism from betrayal and cowardice.”
“It was a year of difficult, necessary decisions, the most important steps toward gaining full sovereignty of Russia and powerful consolidation of our society,” the he said in regards to Russia’s conflict with Ukraine.

“For years, the Western elites hypocritically assured all of us of their peaceful intentions, including the resolution of the most difficult conflict in the Donbas,” Putin said.
“The West lied about peace,” he continued. “It was preparing for aggression … and now they are cynically using Ukraine and its people to weaken and split Russia. We have never allowed this, and never will allow anybody to do this to us.”
“We have always known, and today we are again convinced that the sovereign, independent, secure future of Russia depends only on us, on our strength and will!”
“Today we are fighting for this, protecting our people in our own historical territories, in the new constituent entities of the Russian Federation,” he added.

I have never read that Russia promised not to invade. I think it is hoho propaganda.

If you are referring to “ the original borders”, keep in mind Ukraine was not /never was a nation until 1991. Pulling back to “ original borders” means it does not exist, Poland, Russia, Romania and Hungary’s historic borders were what is now “ Ukraine “.

My stand: Both Zelensky and Vlad are no good. Evil is destroying Evil, support neither. That said, I take offense at the west’s blatant mis-reporting, fake news.
Vlad is clearly winning in totality, for many, many reasons, all not reported by the western fake media. Biden’s Ukie war is bleeding the West in both money and weapons, while the West expends and goes further into bankruptcy supporting a Welfare nation, Vlad continues to make money from what the West needs, energy, fertilizer, food, grains, commodities and metals.
Fact: This war concludes on Bad Vlads terms, and as we can see, there is nothing the collective West can do about it.
