An Indo-Russian joint venture (Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited– IRRPL) has started the manufacturing process of AK-203 assault rifles in Korwa Ordnance Factory in Amethi district in Uttar Pradesh (UP). This makes India the first country outside Russia which has started the production of AK-200 series assault rifles of the world-famous brand. These assault rifles are meant for the Indian Army and later there are possibilities of supplying these rifles to the paramilitary forces in the country.
AK 203
Rosoboronexport had told Financial Express Online earlier that the AK-203 rifles are fitted with integral Picatinny rails. These are for easy and convenient mounting of tactical accessories and of sights which enable the effective use of weapons in various conditions.
It comes with a special capability barrel and has compatibility with many systems including the ammunition and magazines of AK-47.
It has been reported that one of the largest users of these Russian made Kalashnikov assault rifles are the Indian Army’s Infantry regiments and Rashtriya Rifle (RR) units.
According to an official statement shared with the media by the Russian side on Tuesday (Jan 17, 2023) all the advantages of the traditional AK scheme have been retained in the AK-200-series assault rifles: these include ease of maintenance, durability, and reliability.
And in terms of ergonomics and the ability to mount high-tech additional equipment they also meet the latest requirements for the firearms in the world.

I want one!
Source of article?
Thank you!
Here come the cheap AK-47’s and AK-74’s...nice time to stock up on them before the Democrats begin a hard push for gun control.
The AK stands for Automatic Killer. signed Geraldo
7.62×39mm
Uhhhh......what caliber is it? 7.62x51?
Shouldn’t that be “Indi-” vs. “Indo-”?
It’s in the old, reliable 7.62mm x 39mm (since the AK-200 series can come in other calibers and cartridges).
I have an AK. One of the “good” ones too. A Maadi, with wooden furniture. Total POS - like every other AK I”ve ever shot.
Inaacurate, clunky, thuddy recoil and no modularity for adding glass and accessories. Mo universality to any parts/componants.
Plus - that they’re so reliable is truly a WIVES tale. Cannot tell you how many mag jams I’ve seen... and complcations from crappy steel ammo most use.
Least reliable rifle I own.
30 caliber.
The Area Of Difference Between The AK 203 And AK 47:
1. Against AK-47’s empty magazine weight of 4.3kg, the AK-203 is lighter at 3.8kg
2. it has a sighting range of 800m compared with an effective range of 300-400m for the older variant.
3. The AK-203 magazine contains 30 rounds while the AK-47 magazine carries 20 or 30-rounds.
4. The two rifles have an identical rate of fire of 600 rounds/min. The AK-203 has a length of 705mm with the stock folded, while the AK-47 measures 645mm.
5. AK-203 also features an integrated compensator and flash suppressor which is missing in the older variant that is AK 47.

the soviets really got their money’s worth out of Hugo schmeisser, kalashnikov didn’t design the gun
Can I get one in 30-30?
I have my doubts this will catch on. I remember when the AN-94 was supposed to be a big deal.
7.62 is 30 cal - and so is .30-06 and .308 - but 30 cal comes in many different cartridges/power combos.......
Thanks, you’ve answered the question I was just about to ask. Another POS from the communist bloc.
For the Russians, that sounds like 80 years of progress...
