As much as I try to stay on top of the news, occasionally a bombshell slips by. One such piece of news was broken a couple of days ago, though for some reason it’s not getting much attention from conservative media. Rumors have spread that Tyre Nichols, the black man who was beaten to death by five black former Memphis police officers, was in a relationship with one of the ex-cop’s baby mama. It started with a Tweet by Sir Maejor:

If this is true, it puts the entire incident in a different context. It was clear from the bodycam video during the initial traffic stop that the former police officers involved were being extremely aggressive. Was this due to some or all of them knowing the victim and possibly holding a jealous grudge? It’s being investigated by Memphis Police. According to Newsweek:

I heard/read that the stop may have been pretextual. Was it a setup?
I would suggest as this drags on...this one single cop goes to the chair, while the others might luck out and just get 20 years in prison for participating.
All this racism angle chatter....brought down by a baby-mama angle. Who would have believed that?

I have suspected there was something personal involved. I was wrong though as to what it was.
I thought the likely explanation was that the cops were corrupt and the victim had missed a payoff or was threatening to go states evidence. But if a lady was involved — especially if she is pretty — some men get pretty nutso and that would explain it too.
It’s hard to explain that beating without a motive more that “let’s beat this guy up and then we can go to jail for life.”
The narrative may die about the racism issue but if true the prosecution will need this info to make them look great for the next election. A conviction of death in this case will appease the bloodlust of the community and win future employment.
If you have watched enough episodes of First 48 (the murder series) this rings true - ie beating/killing the new live-in ‘boyfriend’ of a baby momma.
Julious rage doesn’t cover it - more like a 3YO throwing a tantrum over someone else playing with their ‘property’.
It will be interesting to see if anything like the truth will come out.
If so some or all of the defendants may get a free upgrade from second degree murder to first. In Tennessee they use lethal injection
Don’t rule out temporary insanity caused by the vaccine. Case is far from settled.
The first video released shows cops aggressively going after him, pulling him out of his car, cursing, etc...
No one has described what happened before that interaction.
I have read various rumors from street drag-racing, to drug deals, to Nichols ramming a cop-car, to the girlfriend story.
