Around 4 in 10 Americans in a new poll feel the state of the U.S. union is strong ahead of President Biden’s annual address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday.
A Monmouth University poll found just 39 percent of Americans think the union is strong, down from 46 percent who said the same in March of last year. Of this year’s 39 percent, just 7 percent think the union is “very strong,” while the rest say it’s “somewhat strong.”
Democrats view the union under Biden more positively than Republicans, who felt more favorably when former President Trump held the Oval Office. But even Democrats’ sentiments about the state of affairs have fallen over the past year, from 68 percent who were optimistic last year to 58 percent this year.
“Fundamental faith in the American system continues to erode, even when taking into account the fact that partisan views shift depending on who occupies the White House,” said Monmouth University Polling Institute Director Patrick Murray in an accompanying report.
The survey comes just one day before Biden is set to give his State of the Union address, in which he’ll likely laud the accomplishments of his administration and party and outline goals for the upcoming year.

Less than half
39%? Where did they conduct this poll, on the Berkeley campus?
Six in 10 says it sucks! That 60% for all of those in Rio Linda.
My business increased four fold with Trump. Kung flu wiped out 95% of it and it has barely come back despite Chomo Joe’s efforts to destroy it completely.
So...four out of ten people watch the Legacy News, and are being told what to think, irregardless of facts. We’ve got a problem over here on Aisle 11, and we need a major clean up. Code Blue.
Sure, it’s strong. After all, we still have 50 states in it. The rest? Not so much.
1972 was the first presidential election in which I voted. The SOTU is the weakest that it has been in all of my adult years.
Four out of ten is the ratio of actual living Biden voters. 81 million votes my butt.
Four in ten. About the same ratio that has psychological disorders.
The 4 are in on the criminal system
So then 6 of ten feel the state of the union is not strong. That is known as an overwhelming majority.
McCarthy after the rambling speech is finished should hold up his copy and appear to be ready to tear it in two. Not sure what would be the most theatrical turn from there. Maybe get a chant going, thumbs down like a Roman emperor, actually tear it like the former speaker, throw it up in the air loose and unbound.
I have been in the process equipment business for 35 years. 2018 and 2019 were the best years I ever had. 2020 was decent because a lot of manufacturers were buying equipment to make hand sanitizer. This year hasn’t been bad, due to China was locked down for the past few years and their business came to America. However, the bottom will fall out soon...when, I don’t know. But soon...
Many people want things to be horrible so they see horrible everywhere. It’s always been this way, this is nothing new.
I always assume that things are much less horrible than public opinion says they are, that comes from 45 years of observing what people say. Even when things are as good as they can get many say things are awful.
Perhaps a small helium balloon with made in China on it. :)
Must be the 39% of the population that actually voted for this poser.
I’m surprised the poll numbers weren’t ballooned for pedojoe
I sure miss that harmless, lovable little fuzzball and his formerly nicotine stained fingers.
The Deep State, government/big tech alliances, woke, DEI, ESG, CRT, antifa, reparations, 1619, tranny, child sexual mutilation, defund police, WEF, anti-fossil fuel, and Commies in Congress movements are all new. These are all part of the leftist “long March through the institutions” grand strategy and are a very serious internal threat to our stability and long-term prosperity. I would argue that none of these fall into “it’s always been this way.” We’ve had communist labor unions, 1960s radicals, and other sundry corner-case misfits, but nothing like this massive, multi-front, highly coordinated attack.
