Yeah that’s affordable for a mom and pop diner. What’s another 50+k a year to be safe?

Chicago deserves to be a good desert. Isn’t that what leftists cry about? Let these leftist morons starve.

This warped thinking is either A: to increase employment for armed guards or B: to break the middle class. It’ll accomplish both for a little while. Then it’ll be on to C: move away.

Either way, I’m glad to see a dung heap like Chicago become more of a dung heap. As the saying goes...”they voted for it”

And the first armed guard to shoot a psrp will be arrested and convicted and spend the rest of their lives in prison. Gee what an incentive!

I lived in Hyde Park in the ‘80s. The grocery landscape has changed since then, but within one mile I had Hyde Park Coop, Mr. G’s (IGA), Village Foods. No Jewel. No Schnucks. Numerous corner stores for the essentials. Walgreen’s. I would imagine that the supermarkets would reduce hours, lengthen lines, and raise prices. The corner stores will either have an owner who doubles as guard, or close up. Walgreen’s would fill some of the void as they could afford the guard, but that means a diet of potato chips and Hot Pockets.

Lose-Lose-Lose.

Grocery stores are defined as “a business engaged in the sale of food, beverages, and other goods usually used in a home,” which appears to include the corner bodega.

When I was visiting Costa Rica, there was at least one guard at the door of a ‘corner bodega’ and this was in a nice residential area. Third world, here we come!

Brilliant.

They taught the public to insist on de-funding cops so now grocers need to hire their own or go out of business.

Before you know it the public will be screeching like that would raise the cost of food even more. /s

Shouldn’t they hire social workers?

Cut the welfare in the state and they could hire all the police they need and some.

Businesses already pay for armed guards. They’re called “police”, and they’re paid by the businesses taxes.
