From special operation to full-scale war
almayadeen.net ^ | 24 Feb 2023 | Alexander Dugin

Posted on 02/28/2023 11:36:48 AM PST by Vlad0

Russia has changed its paradigm from realism to the Theory of a Multipolar World, has directly rejected liberalism in all its forms, and has directly challenged modern Western civilization, openly denying it the right to be universal.

A year has passed since the start of Russian Special Military Operation in Ukraine. It began precisely as a Special Military Operation, it is clear today that Russia has found itself in a full-fledged and difficult war. The war not so much with Ukraine - as a regime, not with a people (hence the demand for political denazification was put forward initially), but first of all with the "collective West", that is, in fact, with the NATO bloc (except for the special position of Turkey and Hungary, seeking to remain neutral in the conflict - the remaining NATO countries take part in the war on the side of Ukraine one way or another).

This year of war shattered many illusions that all sides of the conflict had.

The West was wrong in its calculations

The West, hoping for the effectiveness of an avalanche of sanctions against Russia and its almost complete cut-off from the part of the world economy, politics, and diplomacy controlled by the United States and its allies, did not succeed. The Russian economy has held its own, there have been no internal protests, and Putin's position has not only not wavered, but has only grown stronger. Russia could not be coerced into stopping military operations, attacking Ukraine's military-technical infrastructure, or withdrawing decisions to annex new entities. There was no uprising of the oligarchs, whose assets were seized in the West, either. Russia survived, even though the West seriously believed that it would fall.

From the very beginning of the conflict, Russia, realizing that relations with the West were crumbling, made a sharp turn toward non-Western countries - especially China, Iran, Islamic countries, but also India, Latin America and Africa - clearly and contrastingly declaring its determination to build a multipolar world. In part, Russia before tried already to strengthen its sovereignty, but with hesitation, not consistently, constantly returning to attempts to integrate itself into the global West. Now this illusion has finally dissipated, and Moscow simply has no way out but to plunge headlong into building a multipolar world order. It has already achieved certain results, but here we are at the very beginning of the way.

Alexander Dugin is a Russian political philosopher who is said to have some influence on Putin (although I have seen this also disputed).

He was most recently in the news when his adult daughter, also a writer, was assassinated in a car-bomb attack in Moscow, which is presumed to have been the work of Ukrainians. And which he may have been the target of.

I have only posted the first and shortest section. There are 6 others, some considerably longer.

The full essay is quite interesting, and he makes the case that the war has transformed Russia in fundamental ways.

It is 5,800 words, or about 11 pages total.

To state the obvious this is a pro-Russian essay, by a well known Russian intellectual.

Only NATO gets to attack countries that pose no threat and call it something catchy, like “kinetic operation” or “targeted missile strike”.

When somebody else does it, it is “naked aggression”, “empire building”, a “holocaust”, and a “crime against humanity”.

The West is to blame for this. Holding that view does not mean one is “pro-Putin” like the NeoCons spew. If the CCCP placed their military bases all across Canada, how would we feel. We’ve expanded NATO into Czechoslovakia, Poland,Hungary, and now Ukraine, a country with a particular ethnic animus against Russians in eastern Ukraine. Biden could have stated “we do not support NATO for Ukraine” before the invasion.

Listning to Putins speeches for several years he was often referring to a Multipolar World...so I on’t see this as him changing.

If the Russians decide to fully integrate with the Chinese that will be an extremely formidable combination. As for the rest of the world, who trusts the US?

We’ve gone from just supplying Javelin missiles to all of NATO pumping in everything under the sun.

It may have been the work of Ukrainian assassin, but she had help from NATO, or the CIA, who safehoused her and probably gave her a new identity and financing after she burned that poor lady alive. Hope someday Russia finds her and returns the favor - and everyone that helped her along the way.

A Russian who is incapable of writing something less than a tome doesn’t exist.

Why use 3 words when 100 will do.

It’s just another reason to not like Russian culture.

I read through it and Dugin’s arguments all make sense to me this war has changed Russia.

Very Interesting.

Not sure who will "Win" the "Ukraine" War, however it is certain that the US will Lose.

The Question is how badly?

“Why use 3 words when 100 will do.”

Oh, come now. It takes at least 4 words to say “USA bad, Russia good”.

“I read through it and Dugin’s arguments all make sense to me...”

Well, they may sound reasonable but Dugin’s theory is just a rehash of an earlier, almost identical geopolitical theory that has always failed to produce results, compared to competing geopolitical theories. So I would expect Dugin’s will be disappointed as well.

Agreed!

Heck, Yeltsin too, although I differentiate between his personal view and the outlook of the bulk of Russian leadership. When he says “Russia wants...”, he’s often not saying “I’d like to see...”

Al Mayadeen

Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Mayadeen#Political_alignment

[Excerpts:]
Political alignment

France 24 and Mohammed Al Jazairy of Asharq Alawsat state that Al Mayadeen represents the latest expansion of Iran, Syria and Hezbollah in the field of media.[6][7] Shortly after its launch the channel became one of the supporters of Hezbollah.[33] The same view was also expressed in a 2021 publication.[34] Joe Khalil, the author of a book about television in the Arab world, told The Daily Telegraph newspaper that the station is undoubtedly supportive of Assad.[8] According to the Jewish Chronicle, its director, Ghassan bin Jiddo, has spoken of his “friendship” with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.[27]
[...]
The network has been accused of antisemitism. According to the Jewish Chronicle, among articles on its Arabic website are ones entitled “The Holocaust — that great deception”, “Why do the Jews rejoice at the burning of Notre Dame in Paris?”, “Jews and Freemasons in the Arabs’ revolutions”, and “The Jews of ‘Israel’ — this is why their end is certain”.[27][35] According to Media Matters for America in 2021, Al Mayadeen used antisemitic conspiracy theories about George Soros in its coverage of the Pandora Papers “to sow doubt about whistleblowers and leaks”.[36]

The network stated that the Palestinian cause is the channel’s centerpiece.[37]

In September 2022, during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Al Mayadeen spoke to Russian sources about setbacks in eastern Ukraine.[38] It has referred to the Government of Ukraine as a “Nazi regime” and promoted the discredited Ukraine bioweapons conspiracy theory.[39] British politician Jeremy Corbyn was criticised by Joan Ryan and the Simon Wiesenthal Center for appearing on the network during the war because of its perceived closeness to Iran and Hezbollah.[35]

Writing in Al Mayadeen in October 2022, Janna Al Kadri said that the death of Mahsa Amini in Iran was used by the West as an “opportunity to fuel Iran-phobia and Islamophobia”. Al Kadri described the hijab as “a symbol of the working class in its struggle for autonomy against the ongoing and impending assaults of imperialism”.[40]

Outside of Javelins, old Stingers, and artillery shells, we’ve barely scratched our inventory. Virtually nothing that would be of much value in a dustup with China.

Meeting Ukie needs for artillery shells is really the issue, this summer. But a shift toward the GLSDB’s could help with that: Russian artillery is useless if all THEIR shell stocks within 80 miles of the front get smacked. The US has said GLSDB’s are some months away, however, that may be a ruse.

If we simply sent the 96 HIMARS scheduled for delivery to US stocks in 2023 to Ukraine, that’d have quite an effect. (And we’d still have over 400 left.)

I have read his book “the theory of a multipolar world”
and have started “last war of the world - island”

He is quite honest and is NOT at all like the west has portrayed him, but definitely in favor of a multipolar world, not a unipolar OR bipolar world.

What happened to Dugina’s killer? Do you know?

I can find nothing.
