Democrats in Nevada Sweep the Socialists From Power
PJ Media ^ | 03/05/2023 | Rick Moran

Two years ago, a slate of radical democratic socialists shocked the state of Nevada by winning all but one of the party leadership positions. In response, every paid staffer who worked for the Democratic Party resigned. Judith Whitmer became chairman of the party, and the civil war was on.

The embittered establishment Democrats led by the remnants of the Harry Reid coalition formed an opposition party to the regular Democrats. Reid, the former Senate Majority Leader, almost singlehandedly turned Nevada from a reliable red state during the 1970s and ’80s to a swing state.

The socialists won thanks to some radical union support and their dominance in Clark County where the Las Vegas-based culinary union holds sway. But establishment Democrats formed their own coalition of mostly elected officials and, on Saturday, kicked the socialists out.

NBC News:

Munroe-Moreno, who is the first Black woman elected to lead Nevada Democrats, was backed by a slew of elected officials as well as the so-called Reid Machine, the powerful organization first brought together by the late Nevada Sen. Harry Reid.

The results come after a tumultuous term under Whitmer, who repeatedly clashed with key figures in the party. Establishment Democrats charged that she had at times undermined her own party, including Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, who was in a close re-election race last cycle.

Whitmer also lost the support of some of her progressive allies, including in Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ camp and with local democratic socialists.

The significance of the defeat of the Democratic Socialist Party in Nevada should not be underestimated. The progressive wave that began with the election of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (R-N.Y.) in 2018 may already have crested. Establishment Democrats have begun to fight back to keep the party viable.

>Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (R-N.Y.)

She changed parties?

NV has a ballot initiative in 2024 to put RCV ranked voting into the NV constitution. The steal is about to be enshrined.

Well, that’s nothing to get excited about, as Harry Reid was as crooked as Biden. Perhaps even more so, as hard as that may be to believe.

Basically there are two wings of Democrats, the corrupt wing and the woke wing, just as there are two wings of Republicans, the corrupt wing and the MAGA wing.

The two corrupt wings want their mutual power back, which is why Democrats are suddenly sounding less and less bat***t crazy, and the GOP is throwing everything it has at getting rid of Trump and trying to buy off DeSantis.

Harry still votes in every election, and keeping with the old democratic tradition, will be voting for the next 40 years.

Can't say conclusively that was the cause for the flip in 2022.

The incumbent candidate was the Democrat candidate who won in 2018. He even got 1,600 more votes than he did in 2018.

The difference was that the Republican candidate got 57,000 more votes than the previous Republican candidate did in 2018.

Was it due to a better Republican candidate? Was it due to seeing what Biden & his misfits in his administration did to the economy in the runup to the 2022 election?

I certainly cannot pinpoint the why, because I'm not really plugged into Nevada politics.

But it's not good news that Harry Reid's political machine has retaken the Democrat party's control back from the socialists, unless you are a Democrat or a rabid supporter of the Democrat Party.

Noy mourning the loss for the socialists, but it's also not news to celebrate either. Because they will be a much stronger adversary to defeat, if for no other reason than their experience.

So, it could very well be the factor that defeated the Democrat incumbent candidate. But it's certainly not a given.

The Nevada teachers’ union did NOT support the Demorat candidate for governor in 2022. I don’t recall if they endorsed the Republican.

“Democrats in Nevada Sweep the Socialists From Power”

Only if they all resigned en masse.

We switched a substantial investment out of Nevada due to the communists there and their rigging of the Vegas ballotting

This article is all screwed up. But it looks like not much has changed in the last 120 years.

The progressive wing of the Democrat party hailing from Reid left-overs isn’t all that different going back to the beginning of progressivism back in the days of Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt. In this regard, nothing has changed:

Progressives don’t like socialists. They prefer heavy regulation to the outright governmental-ownership over the means of production. They’ll work with them to get their votes but that’s the extent of it.

Real Nevadans are fiercely independent, and whether Democrats or Republicans, a whole lot of Nevadans are getting sick of being governed by Las Vegas. Even people in Las Vegas.

Think about what you said there.
They want to get rid of Trump because they know he can't/won't be bought off.
So they're going after the one that can be bought off...if not already.
