IDF scrambles fighter jets, downs aircraft near Syrian border

IDF helicopters and fighter jets were scrambled Sunday night, after an unidentified aircraft crossed into Israeli airspace from Syria.

The aircraft was monitored by the IAF throughout the incident, an IDF spokesperson said.

The aircraft was show down in an open area, the spokesperson added, saying that the aircraft in question did not pose a threat at any stage. According to protocol, an alarm was not activated.

The incident is under review.

IDF forces are currently searching the area for remains...

I was hearing some strange low booming noises today, not a cloud in the sky, no identifiable source. I'm right next to the Mediterranean, but due East of here is the Jordanian and Syrian borders, so it might have been some echo of the firefight. Only it continued longer than any quick aerial encounter can be expected to.

Probably a series of sonic booms from the fighters to expedite getting into intercept position / backup therefor- depending on how many aircraft were sent the series of booms could easily outlast the length of the engagement itself.

Given that there is nothing about the target maneuvering and they state that there never was a threat, I can't help but wonder if it was some poor bugger who was just trying to defect and chose the wrong flight profile to do so.

Upon further reflection, given the lack of stating that there was maneuvering, and the statement that there was no threat, I’m going to go with unarmed, low-end drone flying too high for its own good.

Maybe I’m reading to much into this situation, hear me out, we have Israel and probably Iran getting more and more aggressive towards each other and word that Iran is days away from enriching uranium to weapon levels.

In the USA, we have one political party arresting the leading candidate for POTUS of the rival political party.

We have a potential banking crisis that could fire up again.

We have an economy teetering on a major downturn.

We have war in Ukraine that is at best a stalemate for Ukraine despite over 100 billion in aid from the USA.

We have Saudi Arabia cutting oil production and making deals that do not include the US Dollar.

I could go on and on. It seems like the world is spinning way out of control and we are led by a demented fool.

An incursion into our airspace, watch out. Ramming, stabbing or shooting attacks, we got it. Suicide bombs, haven’t happened for a long time, but I’m sure there’s some sort of protocol that’s part of every public bus driver’s training. Horrific bombing injury, we have the best doctors in the world for that, and all sorts of technology for discovering people buried alive in rubble. And anyone who can stop any kind of terrorist who happens to be on the scene, they just snap into action.

But they don’t know how to handle a light snowfall. Cars all spin their wheels and get good and stuck. In Buffalo, New York, where I grew up, no such foolishness. And apparently, nobody knows how to handle leftards having a mass temper tantrum, either.

You could throw that in, the point I was trying to make is, we have so many potentially catastrophic things going on right now, it’s hard to keep track of them all, perhaps all by design.

IMO, incompetence can’t possibly explain all of it, that’s my point, how it all sorts out is hard to say.
